From shredding possessed space-marines to pieces on the ridges of Phobos sporting a BFG-9000 to head-shooting noobs that scope in for the "perfec" body-shot, I have played them all, and I can only conclude one thing; I have learned nothing.
When I say I have played them all, I truly mean to say I have played about a fraction of all FPS that most gamers regard as worth playing. When I say I have learned nothing, I vaguely want to convey that I have truly learned nothing.
And yes, most gamers out there have an easier time playing a new FPS whenever they have played similar games before. But through my eyes, every bit of information that makes that new FPS that much easier is but a fraction of what one wants to get out of the game itself - skill.
What I mean with skill is better described as accuracy, or "good aim". After years of zealously playing video-games like a lunatic, I have no idea how to get "good aim", and it is simply frustrating. I know I have been able to statistically demonstrate "good aim", which is meaningless to me if I can replicate it consistently - statistically "good aim" will never logically imply "good aim" to me.
So here I wonder, confessing that which shames me greatly as I rhetorically ask these questions - How can one get "good aim"? Is it even possible to acquire "good aim"? Can I ever attain "good aim"?
As I near graduation day, I find less and less time to play, and I see "good aim" mockingly give me the finger as it walks away.
So now I ask those who care to answer - do you truly possess "good aim"?
