It is known that the Idle server is a fun server and people go there to farm and stuff. But people are also defacto permitted to play music (as long as it doesn't have racial slurs in it) on their mic through the use of programs (such as Winamp or VLC Media Player). My alt account was silenced on there earlier tonight because of a certain admin (not naming) saying that " "PLAYER: Mic spam not allowed."". Now I know for a fact that people have been micspamming on Idle for years with no issues (other than the racial slur rule) from admins. I propose that we exempt the Idle server from that rule with the added thing about racism. I personally go on there and like to hear music. If someone does have an issue with some of the music people play, they are free to mute them with the client.

Last time I checked admins normally don't enforce against micspam on idle because its idle. I remember back when Jungle used to visit idle and he would play songs all of the time and never got muted for micspam. Honestly I don't think we should mute for it but if admins are muting for it now all of a sudden then they should probably inform the idle community in some way so people know.

Oi, I did the muting since I wasn't aware of the exceptions on idle, if anything this was just an issue on my part that I've fixed already.

theres no exception for idle and there's no reason for there to be one

This quote is old but its at least one admin saying its allowed:

it's Idle, there's no rule against micspam there

I made a report awhile back before I was an admin when I didn't know about the lack of idle rules, I was told micspamming was allowed by an admin. Then when I became an admin, I talked to at least 3 different admins who all told me everything but racism is allowed on idle

I talked to as many admins as I could to get their opinion on it, all of them said it is allowed but then KinCroys told me this

Most people on idle love the 'micspam", as fly said people actualy enjoy the music and or content that is played over the mic. If they have a problem again as fly said and i quote, " I personally go on there and like to hear music.". There are many other people who do this same exact thing if not similar. Again if you have an issue just client mute. If there are people that do not know how just put it in the skial chat saying, "have a issue with a current player useing the mic? type !howtomute." Problem solved.

Micspam is generally ignored in idle anyway, no reason to make a specific exception in the rules for just one server

I think it should be added to the rules so that people who are new to the idle server know that mic spam on that specific server is allowed, unless it includes anything racist or homophobic. I didn't know until I sent in a report and an admin told me that on idle, it's an exception.

The reason I suggested this is because sometimes people report other people for doing it. Also it's useful for new admins to know that Idle is a special kind (in the sense of music playing) of server.

Just because you say its a "special server" where the rules don't apply doesn't mean it actually is.

I personally don't care about what happens on the idle server (mostly). I am more lenient on the server, but I have banned and silenced people on the Idle server. With that being said, that doesn't mean someone can't get silenced for spamming just because one admin is more lenient on that server. The rules apply to all servers.

Then mic spam is against the rules on Idle? Or any kind of spam?

I would feel that based on precedent, music is fine, provided only one person is playing it but ACTUAL micspam (noise/incoherent shouting or babbling/etc) would probably result in a silence. Just my opinion

Was actually asking about chat spam on idle since this thread had to happen. I wanted to know before I jumped the gun on making a report or something like that on someone chat spamming (like an entire log page of it) since it seems like there's mixed opinions on what to enforce on idle. The other day there was a slight conflict about this, so I'm just wanting to know an answer.
