there're way too many times where people have done that and it annoyed a lot of people, usually only a selective number of maps have respawn coin/intel and i don't think it should be a feature to add on any DR map because anyone can be a dick with it.

and yes they made it to the end, but he could've kept it and still choose not to revive the team, that i wouldnt consider griefing, but dropping it in an area where people can die just wanting to get it that's griefing, those are two completely different ways of using the respawn intel/coin.

sure maybe the ban should've been lighter because it was the first ban offence of the year, but that doesn't change the fact that the player had multiple offences of the same issue over and over.

i think it is person's fault if they decide to get that respawn coin knowing they'll just poison you and die. easily considered griefing since it's like a fishing bait

watched the video fully, i don't think anyone died trying to get that respawn coin. i know because i don't think there's people around here to notice there's a dropped respawn intelligence. i know you can't fix the past, but i'm just saying to be sure.

edit: nvm there was but I don't think you can see it's here?

the implementation of respawn coins/intels indeed sucks, however i wonder if that was their intention to be unique or annoy anyone else

This decision.. was incredibly hard.

Better idea for the future: enourage map creators to not add respawn coin mechanic in their maps, and replace it with something else.
With the respawn button, a good player who finished the map first had a choice to respawn players or not, and thats fine. But with the coin, you are left on the mercy of whoever picks it up first. Then, that player must also survive the map, and if there are some places you cant reach like a death pit, you gotta pray they wont die there. This is just how the coin was made to be. Or that they wont just drop it, because why not. Maybe they are not willing to respawn players, who have failed, nothing says you HAVE to respawn them anyway. The coin is optional, and whoever gets it first, decides others fate.
The problem in this thread is not caused by the player, who is simply using this mechanic as its been designed, but by the mechanic itself. Ask mappers to make a better respawn option or stick to the simple button, but dont punish those who get and then drop the coin.
Are we now also gonna ban players who refuse to press the respawn button? We often have a speedrunner or a lucky joe, who get to the finish line first despite not doing anything useful, like tricking hale into pressing buttons and such, is them getting ahead of other players, who tried hard and basically made the way for the team to win, just to not press the respawn button also worthy of getting a ban? Maybe we start banning everyone who is stalling the game now as well? 6 months will make anyone not willing to play, and they might encourage their friends to stop playing as well. I really wonder why the EU server is dead most of the time now...

Heres my take on this:
Picking respawn coin is optional, and therefore should be optional for usage, just as how in some maps, a respawn button is optional. If you pick up a coin and then drop it, then that should be fine no?
Banning someone for a week because you didn't get to play a shitty minigame is absurd. If it matters that much to you, then don't die? Maybe pick up the coin first?

who is amensty

Amnesty as in a mass pardon. Having half of TF2 permanently banned for stuff they may have done many years ago was not helping the server numbers. It also didn't help that certain admins were permanently banning players for stuff like exploiting or griefing when it should have been reserved for more serious offences, such as hacking, like it always used to be.

If this suggestion hypothetically were to get implemented, then EU would just spring back to life?
I wasn't even aware of admin applications being tracked with the EU server, let alone anyone in this forum.

Unlikely but it may prevent Deathrun US from falling to the same fate. However, if the admins used their brains to begin with then this wouldn't have become a problem either.

The server did recover... I'm just really conflicted about it. Am I overthinking that this could also backfire?
Yeah the EU side that is on the US will be content. Would the US be on the US side?

April is the month they got declined so there is a correlation.

None of them were given an official answer as to why they were declined.

"Official answer?" Alright. Let em wake up to that glorious 9am email "Unfortunately, after reviewing your application.."
INeedToBeBuffed is the only one I've met so far. I think that was the right call imo. Nothing personal.

why y'all overthinking ts, getting banned for this is retarded because its a map / mapper issue if the coin can be lost

Because the US side thinks it is not retarded.
I don't wanna hail mary about how we are losing player count while not being considerate for those from the US sector as well.
