shutdown, because it doubles as a space heater, which is a big problem in the summer

Neither. I don't shut it down in because there's a possibility of it not coming back. I cannot sleep it as it's a Server OS.

Neither. I dislike closing out of Steam chats under any condition because it doesn't keep a history.
Money isn't an issue. I make enough and haven't got too many other reasons to spend it.

I shut it down unless I leave for less then 4 hours, mainly for the electricity cost, plus I don't want to strain it too much, it already heats up too much.

Man, I run a laptop, forget both of those, when I get home, I need this thing to be ready because it is about to go from 50C to 75C in less than 3 minutes when I start multi-tasking! >: D But that was when I had Vista, now I have 7.... my computer laughs at me now... I leave my computer on, to answer the question properly.

I can't put my computer to sleep, it had to much caffeine. I have to beat it to sleep every night.

I always left my desktops on 24/7, monthly shutdown if it wasn't forced. My newest laptop, though, it's a beauty with on board video AND a video card on top of that. This pairing is good for TF2 but really bad for overheating so I turn it off even if I'll be away from it for 4 hours. Only time it gets left on when Im away from it is if I have something taking ages to download, but my 70MB fibreOp makes that a rare event.

Same. If I leave it on during the summer, my room gets way too warm. I like to leave it on during the cold nights though.
