It sucks, and if there are qualms, they can be done sufficiently through our private messaging system.

Unmod is a place where people can shitpost and mods can rule with greater authority elsewhere. You CANNOT keep people from venting every now and then and unmod is the place for just that. So its either put mods on a higher alert for shit or keep unmod.

Unmod doesnt create drama, it houses it. Drama will exist whether or not unmod does.

+1. Fights that start in unmod rarely ever remain in unmod. The content isn't even that funny since most of the drama queens have left.

I'm personally not an unmod poster and partly agree to remove it as it stirs up a tremendous amount of drama, but it's still a place where most of the reg posters feel some freedom of expression, or just a good way to relax and freely post without really worrying about ethics. That could be compensated by having less strict forum rules, but we don't want that. Right? Imagine what the forum would be like if shit posting was an acceptable thing.

I've been on forums that have no place that's unmoderated, and the attitudes there are like people walking on eggshells. I was impressed when I joined to find you guys allowed a place for unmoderated discussion.

My big problem with unmod isn't the drama. I don't care about drama, it's going to exist with unmod or without. My problem with unmod is that people in our community who SHOULD care about the rules, general decency and public image (in example: admins and moderators) get a "safe place" to blatantly be racist, sexist and they get to circumvent almost all of the rules.

I just can't take this suggestion seriously because the fact it is being posted by someone who loves to stir things up in unmod, even made his own pinned thread to bash others. Let Bott voice his opinions and then we will decide.

I don't come to Skial to keep up a certain image of the community. I come to Skial to fuck around. I'm not going to hold myself or anyone else to a standard. The only ones that should really be expected to uphold a certain standard are the admins, but even then I don't really give a fuck. Skial can live or die, it's just another place for me to waste time.

Make an "archive" section, so if a thread gets derailed / is a hate thread(like Damien's abuse thread), it gets put there instead of unmod. No one can post in a thread once it is in the archive.
Anyway +1

My largest issue with unmod:
This server is supposed to be against racism, and while unmod shouldn't be moderated if it exists....if I'm banned for saying something racist, and I see the admin who banned me blatantly using racism..it's such hypocrisy and makes skial look bad in my views, and if im angry about things I'm going to go post "Here's a forum post where there was an admin being a bigot!"

If we aren't going to remove it, admins should be held to a slightly higher standing than others, even in unmod.

I don't think we should remove it outright but at the same time I think it needs to be toned down slightly in terms of the chaotic behavior that goes on in there. Like Ant said I don't like the idea of admins breaking rules that they're enforcing on other sub forums just because its unmod. If anything we should at least set a higher standard for admins in terms of what we can post there so we don't look like a bunch of bigoted assholes.

As a whole, I enjoy the idea of unmod as a way to post about things that might have been locked, the idea behind it in solid. People don't use it for that though, people use it to spam bigotry/start fights, not to resolve shit.

If it stays, it should definitely get an overhaul and get rid of all the nonsense like that and be used as a tool instead of a way to be ignorant.

I can agree that admins should be a little less horrible, even in unmod. But the sad thing is, I see admins outside of unmod already acting horrible. Awhile ago I saw a skial staff member cracking insulting and unnecessary jokes in a ban appeal. I'm not going to point fingers but we should probably be doing something about those people before we start attacking unmod

I just find it odd that there are much more damaging things to Skial's image that everyone seems to ignore yet unmod is the focus

-1 it's been perfectly fine all these years people who don't like it never visit it and no one is being forced to enter the depths of unmod
