Declined Custom Title Tags for Certain Users

I've known that suggestions like these were brought up and declined due to people being able to easily abuse it with multiple changes, make their title inappropriate, or be to hard to moderate with the sheer number of people with custom tags. I propose the following.

I've saw on other xenforo forums ages ago that you can give credit to certain group ranks the ability to change their title X amount of times. Users who climbed the current title rankings to the top getting "Bottiger's Own Aimbot" or having X amount of trophies (in order to get the Highest Title you must have 20 trophies).

Allow users who got the amounts of trophies to be able to change their title tag to any custom one that is appropriate once every three months and any more times would have to be done through a forum admin at their discretion.
I don't even know what you mean by title tag, what is it?

Why let people who got 20 trophies get to change their name once? Why not everyone?
Suggestions like that were brought up before and were denied due to the sheer number of titles you will need to consistently moderate, by having to collect 20 trophies, you will essentially have to be a regular of the forums, as getting 1 year on the forums,or 5,000 posts and a lot of positive feedback will be one of the trophies you need to achieve 20 trophies.

Won't people be just spamming and bothering admins to get custom name tags and how will admins be able moderate people are not using inappropriate titles?
You will get less requests to change someone's title than you will to change someones name completely because of the smaller pool of people who are allowed to even change it. As to the moderation question, it will be as difficult to moderate an inappropriate title as a new forum user name or an inappropriate thread. I am certain if someone infringes a rule on the forums, people will report it swiftly.

Still I'd like custom titles myself but I don't think it's gonna happen

I think I answered the question relating to people using the title system inappropriately. The amount of people who would have access to this would be a small fraction, and the fact that they can't change it for a few minutes and change it back would prevent your quoted issue from being a major problem. Would one or two people probably make their title "Banned by CiNiC" or "Admin of Skeal", probably. Would they be caught quickly, yes. I don't feel like a suggestion should be shot down because one or two people would exploit it. I tried to think of as many solutions to create exploits to a minimum, eg. Limited pool of people able to use it,limited amount of changes possible, requirements that would not encourage spamming for the trophies, that I feel it would be unfair just to decline it because a possibility of one or two people to exploit it.

No matter what the suggestion is, there will ALWAYS be a way to exploit it to a certain extent and I don't feel that because a small exploit is possible due to a little faith in trust between the people who have the ability is enough of a reason to decline it.
 
If you're fearful of people exploiting it, might as well remove the ability to have custom avatars then.
 
Damn Dan was just trying to have fun with it no need to get all hateful with the emotes lol.
 
I wonder if it's possible to only let users pick from a list of titles they unlocked? (e.g. Server-Clearing Cynic or Australian Skial God)
 

He isn't suggesting that we have the ability to edit our own title. It would, of course, have to be approved by the mods therefor if a title was found to be confusing or inappropriate, it would be the mods fault for approving it.

That's right, very rarely have we seen a profile pic worthy of moderation.

One point I would like to bring to peoples attention, everyone has their own custom title; it's called a username.
 
I came into this thread with the intention that it was just another one of "those" suggestions. However, you put your statement very well and I do believe something of that nature would be positive to the forums.

But why 20 trophies? Only a handful of people actually have 20 trophies at current.

So it's really hard for people to abuse it, as it is hard to obtain in the first place.

Also it shows how much time you've wasted on this cesspool, so theres that, too.
 
It seems cool. I don't see how I personally would use it, but I can see why others would want it.

Also, is there a way to look at your trophies? I know there used to be, but I can't find it anymore.
