Scarcely Lethal Noob
I'm pretty decent at both classes, but which one should I focus on and practice more? Give me your thoughts and opinions.

Thanks in advance.

I play medic for my highlander team and I think it uses a bit more skill than solly does

If you're talking about playing on a team I suggest you run soldier if your comms are weak and medic if your rollout is shoddy.

play soldier,demo,scout, etc.
playing other classes WILL help your medic play.
you'll understand where sticky traps are, where the spam spots are, etc

I agree 100% with Ruelel - it helps to be all rounded. I play competitive pyro - but I would also make a tolerable competitive just about anything other than heavy (I detest the class as a whole.) It helps with knowing what to do against them, and knowing what a good player should be doing as them so I can correct teammates.

Don't just focus on one aspect, focus on all aspects and that singular classes play will improve as well.

why not both?

but4srs. i find that soldier's more fun, and like ruelelel said, practicing other 6v6 classes will help you play medic aswell.

Team sucks without Medic. Team sucks more though when it doesn't know how to play in cooperation with Medic...

I love to play Medic, but only with some people (primarily, Heavies who know how to cover the Medic from direct fire and toss him some sandwiches) Normal Heavy players do appreciate when Medic rushes first when ubering to take sentry's fire - people like that know what tactics is.

If you want to play medic you should also practice the other competitive classes to understand where they would try and drop you in lobbies and pro pubs whatever

When i'm a scout i normally go aggressive on the medic if i can flank and we have an uber disadvantage
Or when the heavy classes and my medic get wiped so i try to clean up any important classes i can find.

I agree that if you do play with other classes first, medic will be easy. Start with pyro, and like Ruelel and Antamania said, you will learn where and where not to stand. That is also how i learned to be a good medic. We always need more medics!

One of the medic roles is to guide the team, while the rest of the team are busy aiming at enemys, you are not just dodging death, but doing recon at the same time, and relaying this over the mic.
you must know the function of every class within the team, or else your input becomes less valuable. I would say, learn and perfect soldier, then learn and perfect medic, as you cant be a succesful medic without knowing what your solly is likely to do next.
