On the US9 100% Crits Orange x3 fix server, this player has popped up in the last few days.

He is abusive to other players, verbally taunting them on their lack of skills in the game, his attitude makes the server unpleasant and uncomfortable.

This server used to be a favorite of mine, but I suppose I will find another one unless this player is handled.

A discussion about proper courtesy would be in order, a player who finds the need to constantly complain about his team loudly and aggressively needs to play on a ranked TF2 server and game - NOT a "fun server" where we come to relax.

His presence makes relaxing and enjoying your server impossible - I am tired of being called a "fag" or "homo" by this player merely because he finds my choice of weapon to be incorrect, or he feels I am not playing the game in a manner of which he approves.

Please send an Admin to this server to at least sit in and monitor his behavior, it is unacceptable,

Yeah, thanks for the advice on how to vote on a player - however as soon as I put in a vote, other players who are apathetic to his abuse fail to vote him out all the time - the votes have so far gone about 50/50 for muting and gagging him.

I have not tried to get him banned outright - as I feel this decision is best left to an admin, and not the mob rule of a server.

The only metaphor I can come up with in this case is this:

Imagine you find a coffee house that you really enjoy frequenting...imagine you enjoy it because of the relaxed atmosphere, cool tunes and generally pleasant people.

Now, imagine one day where a loud, abusive and generally nasty person shows up and starts hanging out. Let's say he likes to slap the waitresses on the bottom, he calls other patrons "fag" and "homo" for ordering certain types of coffee or tea - and he likes to yell his opinions about other people.

The once fun, relaxing coffee house has become another place where we tolerate "free speech" and people who just HAVE to express themselves as flamboyantly as possible. Now - the once nice place is unpleasant due to the disruptive and damaging behavior of one person.

Admins, please just go and listen / watch what transpires on the server when he is connected. Black_Sheepz is a nasty, immature person who needs to be set back in place - and the issue with him is an overall attitude problem, not something that can be captured by a chat log (it is 99% voice) or demo - a video would have to be 30 minutes long to give you a full idea of why this player needs to be at LEAST temp banned for his poor attitude.

currently reading his chatlog.
he's just a douche who whines about snipers on 100% crit.
http://www.skial.com/stats/hlstats.php?mode=chathistory&player=1288368&page=1
>Play pyro on most wide open unfortunately played map in the game
>Complain about snipers on a wide open map
>Complain about lack of headshots when because of the server type a bodyshot does same damage as headshot

Sounds legit.

wlCH

Just proving your stupudity...

Yes, he is a "douche" who constantly complains, but am I to understand that the Skial admins tolerate him calling people "retards" and "homo", with references to how we all "suck dick"?

Listen to him on voice as well, he is absolutely disruptive to the normal flow of the server.

Everyone gets put on the psychological defensive when he speaks or interacts with the server, tension rises and we do not appreciate being told how bad we suck at the game - while on a "fun" server.

we dont ban people for being douches. do a client mute or get thicker skin. otherwise we cannot do anything

Via your posted bannable offenses, you claim not to tolerate any form of discrimination against sexuality, race, religion, etc. Part of what I am trying to point out is his obvious homophobia and hate speech against homosexuals. If you think that his use of this type of language is acceptable, and falls under his allowances of poor attitude, then I suggest modifying your rules to not include such a statement.

I have been playing on Skial servers for several months, and have never encountered such a persistent irritation as this player.
Please, don't write this off as a player who is merely being an annoyance, and as a case where I need to "get thicker skin" - Black_Sheepz is a person who may be allowed to behave badly in real life, please don't reward his poor attitude in a game.

Er, zebra is one of the admins that doesn't like teh expansion of rules to include homophobia. Maybe you might get more support from other admins?

As it is right now I think they may consider 'fag' the insult to be more trash talk than anything truly homophobic. If he's really being just insane over mic you should record a demo of it so that the admins can witness it second hand. :)

I agree with the expansion of the rules, but I don't really find it that homophobic. Like Giildy said, it's more just trash talk.

So am I to understand a demo records voice as well as my screen? How does the process work? I know to do a console command of "demo <file name>" and then "stop" - but where does it get saved and what data is included?

I hate to be a bother on this issue - I am normally a player who never "rocks the boat" - I am a person who spends a great deal of time playing games like TF2 and several MMO-type games, mostly because of my health condition.

I am a terminally ill 37 year old who was once a well-known media personality, radio host and journalist - but I now spend all of my time at home, living on a poverty-level income with a wife who teaches middle school. The reason I mention this is because I want you to get an idea of who I am, I am not a teenager who feels offended by an offhand remark by another player. I am an adult who has difficulty sometimes with my reflexes, my hand-eye coordination occasionally lapses - and I choose to play on servers that have a lower level of competition in order to continue enjoying my experience.

When I found the Skial servers - and especially the US9 server - I discovered a group of players who generally liked to have fun in a comfortable and non-abusive atmosphere. We have had a few players here and there who make a disturbance, but they are generally handled internally within the player base on a situational basis - or the odd player tends to find they are not welcome via "cold shoulder" responses and a general bad vibe towards them.

This player, Black_Sheepz, apparently sees our style of play on the US9 server as inadequate according to his standards. If he only used words like "fag" or "homo" - or strong suggestive language about other players' sexuality once or twice, as "common colloquial language", I would have no issue with his behavior. We all tend to have a "slip of the tongue" once in a while that could be seen as offensive when taken out of context.

This situation is NOT a "slip of the tongue" for this player. He is constantly berating other players with this type of syntax and language - and in my opinion, his strong anti-social behavior tendencies are becoming a detriment to the server's overall "feel"...

To make matters worse, his approach to the server is that we are all weak players who he can prey upon to hone his skills. This makes MY play time extremely frustrating, and nobody likes to have shortcomings rubbed in their face.

His presence is damaging to the good-natured goals of the Skial community - and I should not have to turn off my voice interaction in order to "cope" with a player like this.

I invite you to open a dialogue with me to resolve this issue, if "KillerZebra" is less than sympathetic to any issue involving sexuality and hate speech, then I would like to request an admin who does indeed care and will help.

the demo is saved in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\username\team fortress 2\tf
or if you're on 32 bit
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\team fortress 2\tf

The demo will not record your own voice, but it will record everything you yourself can see or hear.

Also, the internet is a rough and tumble place hun. Overall the tf2 player base is significantly more chill than other videogames but i mean, there are always going to be a 12 year old screaming fag at the top of their lungs. The best plan is just to dismiss him and client mute him. Reacting to him only gives him attention he doesn't deserve.

Client muting was outlined in the second part of firekip's post:

Escape
Ear thingy
Find his name
OK

Sigh...Giildy. I really don't want to take another step backwards and "deal with it" in another situation like this. I know how to mute one player as well, but I think this is a bigger issue than just my discomfort.

I don't think I'm the only one who believes this player is disruptive - is his attitude something you want to portray as acceptable to new players?

If you logged in to a server sponsored by Skial, and heard him tearing everyone a new one for some odd reason, would you think the server was a fun place to be?

This isn't trash talk, it is a player with a serious problem that impacts others negatively.

By the way, he is absolutely not a 12-year old screaming "FAGS!" at the top of his lungs. He is either an older teen or young adult who carefully uses hurtful and discouraging language in order to boost his own ego and make others feel bad about themselves.

Is it acceptable to allow him to feed his inferiority complex at the cost of others' comfort and happiness? His behavior is extremely indicative of someone who has much deeper issues in his personal life - lets not give him a place to pass on his hatred to others and "blow off steam" via abusing people in a game.

it's funny because he can hardly make sentences

anyone that is actually genuinely offended by his speech must have like a grain of self esteem and break into tears whenever someone calls them a fag on the internet

edit: rofl @ the repeated use of "rolf" to express laughter

It's something that happens pretty much all the time in online communities. This all is rather tame. Record a demo, prove me wrong.

In my experience the best way to deal with players with terrible attitudes is to be casual at them. "RAWRAWRARRWASRLDKFHD" "Cool story, wanna stop screaming for a sec?" "KLDJSGHFDKLSJGHSKGHJDS" "Cool, muting you." and that's that.

If other users use the report function from within TF2, we'll usually hop on fairly quick and observe. If he's really becoming a detriment I would like other players from the server to come on here and voice their opinion on it. If it's making people want to not play on the server for the sole person then it wouldn't be out of the question to put up a ban. It wouldn't be permanent initially though.

I was on the server with this player earlier. Not really any more annoying than an average troll. I called him a terrible player and told him I would rape him in a real server. He then proceeded to tell me to follow him to some server and left. Problem solved. Honestly tho, he isn't THAT bad. I have heard far worse.
