Why can't he just buy a mousepad from Walmart if his is old and ratty? He didn't need to flip his lid over a piece of rubber and cloth.Tangy wanted me to edit a three month old quote for someone who doesn't even use the forums. Wow.
Well he was dumb enough to follow instructions from someone online, not surprised he'd make a big deal over something that you could easily just make yourself from random junk. He's lucky Steam users aren't 100% anonymous and something like this didn't happen after following some random person's advice. Why can't he just buy a mousepad from Walmart if his is old and ratty? And how would you know that if you've never physically met them or didn't understand the subject they were giving advice over? My point is you should never brainlessly accept the advice of others because even people with good intentions don't always know what they're talking about and might be giving the wrong advice without even knowing. If working in a research laboratory has taught me anything it's that giving people's advice a free pass from scrutiny just because they weren't trying to set you up to fail is a bad idea.To be skeptical of everyone online is just paranoid and ignorant though. True, there are places where you should not listen (youtube, 4chan, stuff like that), but the majority of people are trying to help.
I told him to soak the pad, put soap on it and scrub it then let it sit for a little while. If someone did any bit of research online they would find that this is a legitimate method (at least for cloth pad). I do the exact same thing with mine and it works fine.
It's also like a $15 mousepad and can only be gotten online.
