Why should you be unbanned or unblocked?:

My best guess is that my brother got the IP banned somehow, effectively keeping me, a legitimate player, off the servers.
If there would be a way to restrict the ban to simply his account, I'd be grateful. I've done nothing wrong on any Skial server.​

The account that was originally banned for hacking is a throw away account. There isn't any way for us to know if it was you or not. We can't lift the ban.

I know that you mean well but I really have to ask that you try and reconsider.
Since it looks like a throw away account was used, he's a simple account sign-up and router reset from getting back on a server.
The ban is only keeping me away, someone who hasn't hacked or even said very much on any server.
If there honestly isn't anything you can do about it then I'll get out of your hair, it just feels dirty having a ban of any sort looming over my head when I haven't done anything wrong.

Unfortunately this is the only way to stop our servers from being overrun by hackers since TF2 became F2P and Valve hasn't done anything to help.

If it takes an additional router reset for you to get a new IP, that is still better than having your "brother" make an account in 30 seconds. As you've just proven, your "brother" didn't bother resetting your IP.

There hasn't been a cheater that bothered to do that for more than a few days, and only 2 persisted for more than a day. I have no doubt if we didn't IP ban there would be many more.

We've also caught many cheaters this way who thought they could get away with cheating on an alt.

And there isn't any sort of case I can make?

I can tell that it sounds suspicious to you, but if you could indulge the possibility that I'm telling the truth you could probably tell how bad this feels on my end.

The only case you can make is to prove that it wasn't you, and that we are not going to get any cheaters from your IP anymore. Anything else about how bad you feel doesn't make a difference.

I will make you this offer though. Take a picture of you and your brother holding a sign with your Steam names and the current date. On your brother's sign, it should say "I am Mechanic's brother and I cheated on Skial".

Send this to me along with your brother's main Steam account and a receipt for a $20 donation to a charity such as the Red Cross or EFF and I will remove the IP ban and your Steam ban.
