We have multiple steam accounts in my home. I have mine, three kids and my husband. We all interact and share games and such. I logged into my account today and wanted to play on the server I always play on, which is a skial Payload server and found I was banned. This makes me very very sad. This appears to be an IP ban for a hack someone in my house may have used. I apologize for that person, but in the same respect I ONLY play this server and have spent ALOT of my time and money on tf2. Please, please don't perma ban my account for the choice of another. I will no longer allow my kids my log-in information. :((((((.........​
 
So my kids, wife, and i all have separate steam accounts. I've been playing on skial servers with lots of hackers lately and out of morbid curiosity i downloaded lmaobox free edition to evaluate the situation. Yes i know this is against the rules & people hate me with a fiery passion for this, and i deserve it. That is why i'm eating a little crow today. I did it to find out what the other end of the hacks looked like. This was an effort to see if what i perceived was legitimate or hacking. Other than the obvious sniper aimbot crap i was a little unsure. Things like melee and wall hacks, and trigger botting was a little unclear. I wanted to see if i was right or just getting my butt kicked. Doing so under randomly created accounts seems to have also banned my kids and wife. They logged in to play leggo movie, TF2, sonic racing, and some other things. Apparently it locked their accounts based on ip or mac or something, even without running the cheats. I've since removed the cheat package and can accept my account is banned. My wife has been playing on skial servers for over a year now, and I'd like for her account to be unbanned. I'm ok being permaband. She however does not deserve this, and i can provide skype or anyother form of proof you'd like, even screen sharing her PC so you can verify her setup, as well as my sons.

I have never used an account other then my own. Like I said I am not the only person in my home. So for someone else's actions that I was unaware of and the fact that I play on no other server, then I am losing hundreds of dollars of money on a game I will never again play.... horrid.
 
Let me put this into a slightly better perspective. i'm an IT guy, with nearly 20 years xp, i know all i have to do is change my ip or mask it to reconnect with another account, and transfer items. Its not a matter of you unbanning for the sake of doing it, if i wanted to continue to hack i could. This is for my wife, please unban her because its the right thing to do. I did it in the course of one day, and i could of even hidden it better if i wanted too. I assumed i would only ban/affect myself, and was very wrong. Please for the sake of being a good person unban her. I'm fine without playing on skial servers again, but this is a big part of her recreational time, and enjoys the people she plays with.

Sorry I meant he used 4 accounts and could make more.

If you really were an IT guy you would have known that servers ban ips, that we would ban your ip, and that making 4 new accounts under the same IP would be banned, and it would affect everyone at home.

But that is besides the point I will ask the other admins what we want to do

I completely understand that he made multiple accounts and could do so again, but he has admitted to said mistake. We are both over 30 and have played many different games over the years. We both understand hacking is wrong, and to begin with I thought it was my kids who had done it. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was the other adult in the house. We have never caused problems here or on any other game and honestly, he just wanted to see what all the hack fuss was about. We don't even need hacks, we are both good already. Between two adults, if you are an adult.... crap happens. Why punish someone forever for something little. It wasn't competition and it wasn't something he did for days at a time. It was a few hours one day after getting mad because someone else was hacking and he was trying to figure out how. Simply that. Be merciful there, gamer Gods.
 
For the record personal vouches aren't going to help the case. We can't use player opinions/vouches to overturn a ban. If you aren't the person appealing please don't post unless you have something that could legitimately help the case at hand in some way, otherwise it just ends up cluttering up the thread with unneeded posts.
 
Well seeing as how I am being accused of hacking, I would say that people that have played with me every day for the last year and never seen me hack is legitimate..... j/s

We can't use player testimonies because they can easily be forged/bias. Anyone can get a group of friends together and ask them to put in a good word for them or to support possibly false claims.

If anyone wants to debate forum posting policy, a appeal isn't the place to do so. Feel free to take it to unmoderated, to forum private messages, or elsewhere. But debating it here in the appeal will only get your posts deleted.

I find it strange that it did not occur to you at all to test the hack outside of a Skial server. You ruined the game for 20 of our other players and you did not test it out lightly. https://stats.skial.com/#player/tf/294069036

This is the wrong kind of attitude. We should unban your potential alts because you could've gotten away with it? This is exactly the kind of attitude and behavior that we want to prevent.

DO NOT USE HACKS ON SKIAL EVER.

It may very well be the case that you change your ip and account and we never find you again. But at least you would've gone through the punishment of changing your ip and moving your items. And you will have the threat that we find your new account hanging over your head every time every day.

Do we wish we didn't have to do this? Sure. But our servers would be plagued with hackers exactly like you if we did not IP ban. And this is exactly why this ban will not be reversed. We cannot make any exceptions or everyone will just blame it on someone else in their house and get a free pass.

No one is "debating" any policy. It is what it is. The only way I can "prove" I am a respectable player is to have others say so. How else would you suggest? I am not new to this game, or these servers. I am saddened that I am literally having to beg to be able to play a game I have spent the better part or 400 dollars on. Do you think I like this? Cause I don't.
 
Ya'll are terrible. Half the people I know hack for fun. I had NEVER done it. Because someone in my house sucks at it it's a big screw you?
 
I have never been muted or banned. Nor has anyone in my house. I have been called names on your servers, sent pictures of genitals, hacked cheated and stolen from, but forbid someone hacks from my IP. I never complained, I took it in stride cause I like skial. I get it, though.
 
You can play, just not on our servers. We really don't care that you spent $400 on the game. It was spent on Valve, not us.

Maybe you or all the other people in your house could've read the rules where it says breaking rules on an alt account is not allowed and told everyone in your household about it.

We cannot allow people to create alt accounts to hack on for fun. It ruins the game for everyone else on the server. If we were not strict about it, we would probably have a 1000% increase in hacking incidents.
 
If you think we added $0 of value to your experience, then you shouldn't have any issues playing elsewhere.

Servers aren't free, and you don't become the most popular community from having the same servers as everywhere else, which takes work.

We'll take the tradeoff of having you banned if it means blocking someone that created 3 alt accounts to hack on.
