I am in the middle of ICNDp1 working towards the CCENT. It is a 5 day class. The instructor has told us that the pass rate for people sitting the class once is less than 10% and he suggests waiting until sitting it a second time to try to pass it.

I ain't got time for that. The class won't come back for another month, and I need a job. Yes, I can get one without Cisco, but since I am doing the class, I really want to get that cert on my resume.

So, I am putting in the work. I am going to class all day, engaging as much as I can. Then at night I am reading and studying my ass off.

I guess I am just looking for any pointers from anyone that has some Cisco experience so that maybe I have some focus areas for my studying.

Thanks in advance for any advice or input.

If I were you I would go to Udemy and take an online class of that Cisco cert while taking that 5 day class.

Also, there are tons of practice tests online. Get familiar with those too.

When I was taking my two CCNA exams, I spent almost 4 months re-reading these books and playing with Packet Tracer. I also bought 3 cheap Cisco routers on craigslist (like $20 each) to practice CLI "live". ICND 1 and 2 are indeed tough exams (with ICND2 being much tougher than 1) and your instructor is, most likely, right. You do have a chance to pass ICND1 at first attempt, but it's not that high.

I was feeling pretty good with everything until I realized that it took us Monday-Thursday to get through modules 1 and 2. We flew threw 3-5 last half of Thursday and into Friday. Our instructor felt like it was more beneficial to spend more time on the front end of the course. So yeah after Thursday and Friday I felt really overwhelmed and resigned to the fact that it will take a few weeks.

Then Monday I had a couple of job interviews and one looks pretty promising. So Cisco went on the back burner for a bit.

I got back to it tonight reading the textbook I feel like I retained a lot of info. I also procured a copy of Packet Tracer so I will be playing with that as well to make sure I have the CLI down. I'll update this thread as needed.

I believe in you chucky-boo
Do you have your CCENT?

Well as an update to this thread I took the ICND1 exam 100-101 this morning and passes.

So I am now officially a Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician.

And the path to CCNA begins. Lol

Nice man keep it up. Hopefully you get a good job soon.

Funny story, A coworker of mine asked my bosses if they would be willing to pay for Cisco classes for him. So he could be certified and offer the company more. They said yes, they would up to a CCNA. So he signed up for classes during his job hours and turned it in so they would pay for it.

They said. uhh no you aren't going to take classes during company time. Take them on your own time but we will still pay for it.

My coworker said "nevermind, i don't want to do it now".
