And I mean actual cyber bullying. Not shit talking. I see it all the time.
Give me an honest to god example of "actual cyber bullying" on Skial servers. Hell, on any server. You can't do it, because it's always trash talk and not cyber bullying.

People like Skial because there's so few rules. Adding in more rules just turns people away, people like talking shit in video games. I do it all the time, and it's one of my favorite things to do, if I wasn't able to do it on Skial, I more than likely would go elsewhere to do it. If people are so frail that what someone can say over a video game bothers them, they probably shouldn't be playing said video game.

The characters talk shit, are we going to ask Bottiger to edit out the Scout telling people to ragequit? It's part of any online game where you are playing against other players, and a lot of people enjoy the shit talking aspect. If someone is taking things too far you can report them, and if it is reasonable, I'm sure the admins would tell them to dial it back. I can already imagine all the reports coming in for cyber bullying. "Antamania called me a faggot for playing engineer." Don't you already see where people could take this?

The less rules you have, the less people will abuse them to get their "Enemies" taken off the servers, there's enough of that already without blanket terms that could be up for interpretation.

The clientside mute exists for a reason, if you're seeing what some person who's making you feel bad is saying, it's your own fault.

I didn't mean a rule, necessarily. Just an incentive so if people see it happening, they would step in and stop it where it starts. I understand that it's easier for little kids to get rated M games and the sort but even if they do, it doesn't give people the right to just make fun of them 24/7 and bully them off servers just because they're a kid. I see it a lot on the Skial trade servers and on servers for other groups.

Why should people who turn a situation into a more annoying situation get a commendation? The only thing more annoying than two people fighting over the microphone / text, is 5 people doing it.

So, bullying is now an everyday thing in schools. A lot of people say it's wrong but unfortunately, they don't stop it when they see it for whatever reason they may have. Now online, people say it's a different story. I beg to differ. Cyber bullying is just as bad as bullying in real life. There's just a screen and a username protecting who you really are. It's gotten to be so bad that the UK has made some laws about it and have enforced those laws. Now I understand the same old argument which is "it's the internet, get over it". Which, by the way, is a bullshit argument. Why? Because people have gotten cyber bullied to the point of suicide. So clearly, things you say online have an impact on real life. So, why am I making this post? Skial doesn't have rules against bullying. Not many online groups for TF2 or for any mass multiplayer games do. But, I feel like something should be done. These games we play are for entertainment. Not to go online and bash some kid for being a kid or some random guy you don't know just because you're better. Frankly for me, I have a whole lot more fun just hanging out with some friends on TF2 than I do bashing some kids on CoD. So, I think something should be done. Not necessarily a rule but have a sort of incentive or something to prevent bullying and the sort from happening online on Skial servers. This isn't a suggestion thread because I don't really know what to suggest(yet). What do you guys think?

Also, I know that a lot of people are going to mark this "dumb" or "troll" just because you don't agree. That's fine. But, at least comment on the thread as to why this is a bad idea or as to why you don't agree. And like always, please keep this thread clean. No hating at a specific person or group of players. Just what you think about an incentive to keep the servers cleaner.
Disconnecting from the server? Blocking them on Steam? Ignore random friend adds in case it's an alt of the bully? Report them for harassment on Steam w/ Screenshots? Not that hard to handle yourself.

you lost all credibility for trying or wanting for others to stop people making fun of other when you do it yourself. H.Y.P.O.C.R.I.T.E.

Let me make this clear. The point of this post what to see what could be done to try and discourage people from cyber bullying, not just on here on Skial but in other games as well. I asked to keep it clean and clearly people decided to ignore that. Cyber bullying is very much an issue and just because someone you don't like brings it up doesn't mean that the point they bring across is invalid. Thank you very much to the people who actually had something useful to contribute to this post and hopefully, something can be done about this kind of stuff in the future.

attempting to discourage people to do something on the internet usually has an opposite effect. I, myself think that cyber bullying isn't a big problem at all just because of how little effect it SHOULD have, but people do not like to drop things and take crap on the internet way too personally. They can easily just stop doing what they're doing and walk away. But they don't and make a huge deal about it.

TL;DR for all the comments so sorry if I repeat anything. But I think what Mijet said was right on point. I have really only seen shit talking on Skial for the whole two years I have been playing on it. And most of the time, the person brings it on them self by being a general dick and shit talking other people. If someone got offended by someone else then they can leave the server or client mute them, it shouldn't be Skial's responsibility to have to regulate what people say, trying to interpret whether or not it was really bullying. I think the only thing we need to worry about is what we already are worrying about which is illegal things, racism, and etc. And most of all, this would just lead to invalid reports of little kids getting butthurt because someone called them a name and so they automatically register it as bullying.

Actually, I don't.

Solid.
You're right, there's not one single insult in here, guess I was sooo wrong, yep, super wrong.

Well since you weren't online at the time, you wouldn't know what happened. My friends and I were screwing around on the server. You wouldn't know this since you weren't there. You know how friends make fun of each other a lot of the time?

And again, what part of "keep it clean" do you not understand? This thread was meant for people to discuss what could be done and the sort. Not to shit on someone you don't like.

This isn't really new. He came onto Skial one day and was calling me a scrub and everything, including all the lovely cuss words you can even imagine. Generally riding on a pretty high damn horse. He said really fucking insulting things which seems very strange because now here he is talking about ending cyber bullying. GG.

insult is still insult in public.

Can't believe I have to keep repeating the same thing over and over again.

If you're screwing around with friends, I would hardly consider it an insult if they also know you're just screwing around.

Well honestly you can't keep us from doing so. I mean this just seems like a joke. It is just so hypocritical for you to create a discussion on the topic yet you're a main offender your self.

Well clearly it isn't a joke. And, it isn't hypocritical either. A lot of kids go onto the server and they get bullied off of the server just because they're kids. So I always add them as a friend to help them out with trading and the sort if they want it. Not only that, I've seen the whole server turn against someone they don't like for whatever reason they have. Granted, I was a part of that a couple times but that was against someone who was breaking rules. Not against some player who's just in the wrong spot at the wrong time. My point is, it's bad enough that the gaming community has a whole lot of assholes in it already. Why not try and make it better?
