I don't know if this is even possible, but instead of enabling custom client-side sprays, could Skial add a list of pre-approved sprays to the equip/inventory menu and let the users choose from that?

The sprays could be simple flat images like the class portraits or symbols or something. Certain GIF sprays could be an option for credits or for donors. The best part is that if Skial decides what sprays are available, there is zero risk of lewd/illegal content or code injection, and therefore there would be no added need for spray moderation.

The only challenge would be finding a way to overwrite everyone's spray settings without allowing for code injection. I don't know if this could be achieved by a mod or if it would just naturally work that way.

Interesting concept, but I doubt it would work.
Also im pretty sure the whole tf2 sprays triggering windows defender thing doesn't actually harm your computer, just triggers a notification, so yeah you might want to whitelist your tf2 temp or cache folders if its getting a bit too annoying.
Anyway, -1

A good percentatge of tf2 players run custom configs. And by default mastercomfig already limits the amount of sparys players are able to see at a given time since they lag the game, so on that note players already rarely see/dont see sparys whatsoever. But let say a new player installs tf2 and knows absolutely nothing about configs and externtal ways to change tf2 only by default settings.

September 16, 2021 Patch
Updated custom player sprays to be disabled for players by default
Players can opt-in to see custom player sprays on community servers in the Advanced Options menu
Custom player sprays and other temp files will be deleted when disconnecting from a server

(Valve already by default disables spary and wants to move away from the idea of sparys)

There have already been several skial threads asking for the return of sparys and trying to come up with different ideas to bring back/moderate sparys. But in all fairness it doesnt make much sense for bottiger to put his time into trying to experiment and implement something that 90% of the playerbase doesnt see and already forgot existed in the game.

That would be a lot of work for something majority of playerbase wouldn't even see. Valve turns all sprays off automatically unless people turn them on from advanced settings
TLDR: Basically what Gala said, oh and -1 as well.

Here, let me correct your post arctic dino:
Can people with their furry inflation and anime feet porn addictions stop asking for sprays to be enabled on Skial servers again?

Thanks.
