We've decided to poll the community again on a matter of rule enforcement regarding mic spam in voice chat, particularly usage of sound boards & music. We've gone back & forth on enforcement of this for years so hopefully, finally, we can find a fair common ground best for everyone

This does not apply to mic spam on trade servers, this poll is for all other servers that are not reliant on voice chat for trade advertisements. if you disagree or agree with this, feel free to explain why

What the answers mean:

Answer #1 means soundboards and music in VC will mostly be left to the server vote, only in cases of ear rape and/or unreasonable disturbance of the server experience shall an admin step in.

Answer #2 means literally all mic spam is left to server vote, this means any ear rape or unreasonable disturbances in voice chat is on the server vote to handle

Answer #3 means keep the status quo as is.

This poll will run & close in 72 hours.

I am okay with light soundboard use. But I hate music in VC and soundboards are mainly used for medic X heavy bad audio porn.

I don’t trust community votes at all coming from payload. Keep it as is. Music in voice chat kills voice chat which is the lifeblood of a server. And soundboards can be fun but are 95% spam

I'm willing to support the first option but previously stated in this thread music over voice chat usually dips in quality.

Soundboard should be allowed, There's a line between freedom and resonable as long it's in a moment but not being spammed constant. (So long it ain't racial or hateful under skial rules) Music in the other had i'll just mute or !ignore but we have options to vote mute if it gets out of hand and let the people decide in democracy.

If justs sounds/SFX: sure

If its music server is fine with: sure

If its trashy or server violation rules like the medic and heavy sex SFX: no

I personally am of the opinion that people should just client side mute individuals they don’t want to hear using voice, but I’m also aware that half our playerbase either doesn’t know how or is too lazy to do so lol. That might alienate a portion of our playerbase and potential new players, as well.

Part of me wants to vote for #1, but music played over tf2 voice chat sounds like dookie ass cheeks the overwhelming majority of the time.
Option #2 sounds like a terrible idea for a long list of reasons.
Which leaves me with #3.

This would be fun so I voted for option 1, but can we find a way to lower the percentage of votes needed to mute a player then because theres ultimately trolls who want this type of stuff. Also if we get several mic spammers we won't be able to mute them all because of the cooldown so thats just two problems I feel like would need to be tweaked a bit.

➡️ No, keep enforcement on mic spam as is

After consideration, I trust in leadership's decision-making. I seek to maintain enforcement.

In the enforcing procedure, my only ask is to evaluate the cultures of servers. Some can truly be an annoyance, while some can be by request. It's unique to a degree that it may require more evidence. Don't change anything, but consider the server's health.

Be brave to make effective decisions as a leader if the occasion arises. Have deviations that cause players to be confused and look for the carrot at the end of the stick to find answers. Ignite the entertainment factor! How could this admin approve this and not that! That would be funnier lol.

We should allow soundboards. We can always just mute them our side.

Answer #1, it makes the most sense and people should be the ones deciding if its fine or not.

I’m going to have to say no on this because people can just spam racist music and spamming soundboard with the n word and etc
