Bottiger already explained the voice spam. That one should be clear and cut already. I don't want to listen to you play loud and obnoxious among us/ pokemon sounds clips.

So it's okay for you guys to vote slay/ kick/ ban/ mute someone if you're having fun? What if another player sees this and does the same thing but to an innocent player? Sometimes everyone just presses F1. Their justification is they saw you doing it. Are you going to take the ban for that?

The rules are very simple.
Fair point

I’m not warning you to not cheat if I catch you with blatant aim bot

I’m not warning you because you vote mute a random for killing you

Im not warning you for calling someone a racial slur

you’re on our servers, you follow the rules or otherwise you get punished. It is your responsibility to follow the rules. Not our responsibility to tell you to. The server sends constant pop ups in chat telling you to read the rules at !rules. There is no excuse

Its honestly amusing the amount of people (that I've observed) joining the VSH US server just to apply a bunch of fake cosmetics & unusuals then taunt the entire round(s). They know what they are doing (most of the time) and they know that its against the rules even when other players call them out for it, they just continue. Other players or the recently accepted Admin, Zeke, wIll deal with them fairly quickly through reports as long as theres enough evidence to show what they are doing is against the rules. After a while of dealing with them on an almost daily basis, I can fully understand why its just best to deal out a punishment accordingly as it will push anyones patience. If the player doesnt know that they are breaking the rules then they would clearly notice people in chat or on Voice calling them out for it. In my opinion, if you dont take the time to spend atleast a minute or less familiarising yourself with the server rules, then that is your own fault if you get punished. Its that simple.

I would like to add though, that the !ignore command does not tend to carry across map changes, not sure if thats a bug or an intentional feature. Its caught me off enough times that I only use TF2's own local mute menu to get around that.

!ignore is only a temporary measure. If you want a more permanent thing that's what the clientside is for. I treat !ignore like the person probably isn't always a nuisance, they're just being temporarily annoying.

i've heard that you've broken basically every communications rule while the game has prompts for typing «!rules» and the fact that you've been on skial.com for so long that it would be impossible not to find the rules thread yourself, even if you lose where it was (it's a forum, everything is hard to find).
it is indeed weird to [break the rules] then get banned 32 hours later but there is a part of the site that says what you did and that's all that matters.
many people used to and still do micspam but you can use «!ignore»; why not makes squeakers against the rules at that point. i never had problems with micspammers and think it's fine as long as it's not you or bruh sound effect #634 again, and yet you complain in admin apps that people weren't reporting you.

Good you don't play rust. We rarely warn people. It's either you read the rules or you didn't and you get punished for breaking them. It also goes with common sense as well. Some people don't read the rules but they know not to be racist or hack or anything of that nature. So if you have 2 or 3 players that say that being friendly is not allowed and you become mr scrooge and bah humbug it all you no longer are even entitled to a warning.

I will concede on the micspam/music/dj rule. While I may disagree with the stance I can understand and respect the decision. I can see how it could be annoying and even if you have people enjoying it, it's easier to ban it as a whole than cherry-pick.

However, the reaction/responses to the no warn comments have me confused.

Lost of you say that "Most admins warn" but does that not strengthen my point? If so many admins do it already it would be easy and ease a lot of confusion for players if it was an enforced thing. First minor offence=warning. I was never suggesting racism or hacking be wanted, those things have immediate and serious repercussions. But mic spam or friendly should not result in immediate punishment.

Another thing I want to address is what does a "short punishment" mean? My first mute/gag was 24 hours, no warning, no one asked me to stop, I was never even informed it was against any rules. Granted yes I should have looked at the rules better but I feel it was such a sudden and drastic action to something that could have been addressed in a much simpler way.

Being an admin is about ensuring people have fun and that other players or problems do not get in the way of that, and yet on this server, I have gotten the impression everyone feels the opposite. I feel this is partially attributed to the fact that admins were/are rarely on VSH and when they did get on, suddenly people who were fun to talk, play, and interact with were punished. I just think the system could be improved. I only wish more of the people who express the same views as I came on the forms to express the grievances they did in-game, or that the administration team paid more attention to what players are saying not stats or forums, as most of the time that is where you can form a real conclusion, or at least an idea, of what people are truly thinking.

Like I said before most people who break the rules already know they are breaking the rules, being friendly for example whenever I tell them about the rule I always get, fuck the rules, we dont care, rules are meant to be broken. So why should they be warned, no reason thats why.

When I said most of the admins I meant 99% of them. In terms of VSH all of the current admins warn.

Again, most of the punishments come from forum reports. Do you seriously want each admin to sit and wait for a player to come on to warn them?

If they are banned I'm pretty sure the ban reason is stated in the message box when they are kicked from the server. It doesn't take an intelligent person to figure out they are muted or gagged either. They can easily look at the sourcebans communication page to figure out the rest.

This is exactly why the punishments start off small and increase in length with each consecutive ban or mute. It gives the players a chance to realize their mistakes.

No need to get hostile wow.
  • That's your perception. Most regulars and admins. are following the !rules for everybody.
opinions of the administration are not very high for a lot of people on the server.
  • So you expect a live admin be available on every game server 24/7 to address every concern every time a !rule is broken? Don't believe so. Any player can incite a !rule report to Skial Admin for review
And my take on music playing is when things are quiet I ask if people want music played. It is a great way for people to maybe hear new types of music and other content they may not have experienced otherwise and when I run it its for the enjoyment of others if I would always shut it down if asked.
  • Don't take this personal, but your thought is bs. When did you or any player ever poll anyone it was okay to play "new types of music and other content"?
  • Run for enjoyment of others? The word you claim is "IF" you would always shut it down if asked. My response/experience has been far from what you state. Not you perhaps, but if another player blatantly mic spammed me with their music, I usually get get ignored, vote abused or called almost every negative term they can think of.
I wanted to start a conversation and some good points were brought up, but I do not see why y'all need to jump to personal insults.

  • Finally thanks for your initial observations and to your point about personal insults, in my humble opinion, I read the other posters comments and I take their views as generalizations from their own experiences with other players who may have run afoul with the Skial !rules based on your thread. (Point #6)
Finally Skial does review all new suggestions. Have a good day and seeya on the servers.

This is what happens when you try to talk to community about the rules~
No one has the patience to argue with dumb people who would never listen even if you are nice to them 🤷

At this point the thread is over. You know what everyone's answers are. Very cool have a nice day

to be fair the no micspam rule was not well announced and i only found out on the discord. none of you here have an excuse because the rules are on this site
