Any other reason you should be admin:
Hi. Some of you may already know me. I'm TapTap. You may squareroot my name for convenience.

I joined the community around 6 years ago. I was made an admin back then. I like to think I did a good job when I was admin. Took care of reports quickly, helped with admin applicants sorting, wrote the old set of Jailbreak rules. Most of the people I met back then are gone, yet some are still around (hi guys).

A while after becoming admin, I was done with high school and was ready to start college. During that time, I was preparing for an important entrance exam and was studying for most of the day and that completely shifted everything. I felt like I needed to take a break away from the TF2 gaming world and steam in general. I changed majors and it made it hard to balance things during that time. I just needed to focus for a while on sorting myself out. I did, but I sort of disappeared without notice, and that's just my bad really.
I have already messaged Bottiger and explained what happened. I apologized for that and regret not giving notice for my (well needed back then) break. Be not mistaken that I didn't stop caring about the community, I knew I left it in good hands.

Anyway, I'm back now. I'm a senior year law student. My schedule is a bit loaded as you can imagine, but I manage it well enough to have free time every day, so that's not a problem.
I came back because I missed the community and the game, and my life is more clear now with defined free time and whatnot.
In case of doubts about my activity, I'm confident I'll be around consistently. I've played TF2 for around 60 hours in the last 2 weeks (mostly Turbine,ZE and some Jailbreak when the server is alive), always on discord, been on the forums daily and for hours, and I try to seed servers in the mornings when I can.
I'm applying because I'm confident I'll have enough time, even with my current university load, to be on the forums, in game, and handle reports when needed.

I have experience being an admin. I've ran small TF2, Terraria and CS:GO servers in the past. I know the ins and outs of Skial's protocols (at least those from around my time here) and I consider myself to be a rationally fair and balanced individual. I only have great memories from being an admin here, and I like to think I had fair judgement when exercising my admin role.

Since I came back, I've seen a fair amount of rule breakers and I decided I want to help the community again, hence this application. I obviously filed the reports, but I'd love to be part of the team again. I messaged Bott about rejoining but was pointed to reapplying because it's been a while since I left so here I am. I hope I can be invited to the team again. I miss being part of it and helping with admining the community.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns, I'd be happy to answer and clarify anything.

Have a good day y'all.

You didn't give a fuck
I respect your opinion but bold of you to assume I didn't care. It was how I dealt with what life threw at me. Sure I could've handled it better, but we all live and learn.

Also Johnny, if I wanted fame I'd be streaming fortnite for the kids or something.

So before it was your high school that kept you from your duties. Now you are in college and you say you have time? In a law degree?? I can't see it happening.

Also Johnny, if I wanted fame I'd be streaming fortnite for the kids or something.

You make it sound like you have skill at a game that 6 year olds play. Fuck the law degree, go stream. And how would being an admin on Skial make you famous...i mean, everyone hates the admins here.

No, it was an entrance exam that was after highschool, then changing university majors. I have enough free time to breathe and play games, even with my major. I'm not a US Law Student also. You can believe what I say or not, up to you.

I don't play the game. It was a joke.

In any case your input is appreciated, you can PM me if you have other questions or want to know more details, I'd like the app to remain clear for other input without starting an argument about whether you think I have free time or not.

Yup! Priorities! Has them well laid out.

Skial admin over complete and utter attention to his chosen education and future life career.
I see his personal life as a higher priority over admin.
So 6 years ago he stopped being an admin to pursue his education, in my eyes: a good move.
So when he now comes back i trust he is capable of deciding if he has enough time to put in, next to his ongoing education.

That's pretty much exactly what it is. I didn't sign my life away. Thanks for your feedback.

You seem definitely concerned about your amount of free time, and are trying hard to convince everyone you have enough, which makes me think you may not have as much as you profess. Regardless, I don't think that matters, having someone who can be trusted that does 1 report a week and upholds the rules when playing is better than not having them.
You have been around the community a long time, know what you are doing, are not problematic and can retain a level head. Regardless of time available it doesn't matter much in my eyes, as Jermaphobe does most of the work round here anyway :trollexcited:

This was bottiger's only concern that he mentioned when I messaged him about returning (he's looking for consistency and wanted to make sure I didn't go again randomly). Quite frankly, that's the only potential concern I can see that people reading this might have as well, so I decided to lay everything in the open instead of just in a PM to Bott. I might have overdone it a little bit, lol.

as Jermaphobe does most of the work round here anyway
Amen.

Thanks for your feedback Maddo.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

That's what the app is for kiddo. For other to give their opinions.

I'm fine with people focusing on their education/career. We do not expect people to end or damage their personal life to be a Skial admin.

However I have made sure that being a Skial admin is extremely easy. You can see from all the complaints about the lazy/inactive admins we have that I do not expect much from our admins and it is not hard.

Even the busiest people have some sort of free time almost every day. I know people can work 18 hours a day, but they always have some free time whether it be on their phones when they commute or return home. If you are studying for exams, I am willing to bet that you did not study for them for 3 years non-stop with no leisure activity at all.

If you choose to use that free time on something else and disappear for 3 years I am not inclined to make such a person an admin again unless I see a long period of dedication again. To me, that is a sign of quitting the community and plain disregard for it and that you won't even chat here a bit with whatever small amount of time you may have had.

I'm inclined to agree with everything you said honestly.

If you are studying for exams, I am willing to bet that you did not study for them for 3 years non-stop with no leisure activity at all.
As I explained in my PM to you, I did have free time, but I was having trouble managing everything at once, and separating fun from serious work was hard. Skial and steam things in general were taking away too much time (I was active too much, not that you required it) and I decided to cut it off until I had everything figured out. I didn't want my online time to impact my studying and preparations. I'm not blaming it on being busy, obviously. I just had to set boundaries to my online time back then.

Feel free to do as you see fit Bott. If you'd like to wait, the app isn't going anywhere. I'm still going to be around here whenever I can.

I kinda remember you from 6 years ago Tap, but not as what you did as a admin, don't have much to go on but what you said here.

Looks decent enough for a +1 from me...
