Any other reason you should be admin:
I'm a daily player who enjoys our community and likes the social atmosphere that we create. I try and contribute to the games by keeping the server friendly and civil, but also understand the line between game banter and griefing. I also try and keep a watchful eye for hackers. I love our community and would like to continue to see it thrive and remain a place for everyone to enjoy. Thanks so much for your consideration!

Nice wall of rtv's in your chat logs. Or even the lack of much chat apart from that? Maybe you use voice chat more?

Also, you say you keep an eye out for hackers, but I see no reports made on the forums, do you use any other means? Or you've never seen a hacker?

Apart from that, I feel your reason is too generic.

rtv's aren't a bad thing if the map is garbage. And yes she uses the voice chat almost all the time.

Also, you say you keep an eye out for hackers, but I see no reports made on the forums, do you use any other means? Or you've never seen a hacker?
You don't have to make reports to become an admin.

I'm neutral on this for now, definitely not a rule breaker or anything bad however I think I should wait for people who play with her all the time to give their comments first.

I know that it's not a rule breaker, but when she says she keeps a watchful eye for hackers, I'd assume that she reported someone at least once in her playing time

I'm going to mark this improve. While your play time is certainly phenomenal, your activity when handling rulebreakers does not seem to be there or, at the very least, hasn't been shown as you haven't made a single report and your chat log is nothing but rtvs and some few comments. In addition, your lack of basic understanding of admin tools, lack of effort in this app, lack of community presence and lack of willingness to reach other Skial gamemodes (like custom, trade or idle) in the 1500+ hours you have clocked with us doesn't look too good. Feel free to apply whenever you feel all this to be different =)

i dont think playing other gamemodes within the 1500+ hours is something that's really important some people just prefer one over the other.

also uh i think i played with this person on payload+ the other day and they were mic chatting alot so thats prolly why the actual chat is so empty

I play with Oprah on a regular basis (just about every night) on PAYLOAD+|US.

Reports: I haven't seen any reports in the forums but if she thinks like I do then there wouldn't be any reports. Reports are the job of an admin and we need more of them. I don't want to spend my time reporting players. It's a great feature to have but shouldn't be relied upon to stop negative actions on a server. So I don't think reports should have anything to do with an admin app. I handle the hiring at my job for the warehouse. You have to use a forklift. If I only hired people who had experience with forklifts I wouldn't have the great bunch of people I do now.

Chat: RTV...means nothing....if anyone has played on the US Payload server you would know that after a few rounds "everyone" RTV's . The maps can be long some nights and RTV is a normal thing on this server. I do however think to be an admin you will need to watch chat more often. I find people talking about something in voice and I have no idea what they are talking about because I don't read chat.

Hours: Are pretty awesome.....however more time on other servers would be good as you get called into those servers... you will need to know the rules and atmosphere of the server. Every server is different and also different at different times.

Personality: Oprah is very much liked by everyone. It's easy to become friends with her. Just about any regulars/donators say hi when she enters the server. Half the server lights up when she comes on. I have never heard her be negative towards anyone. I hear her often telling people to be nice. Telling people how to use the ignore command etc. She's a very likable person. Matter a fact she was one of the people who helped make my decision to hang out in Skial.

Overall: I think she would be a great asset to Skial. I think she could use some work/time on other servers otherwise according to the post "How we pick admins" she is good to go.

Good luck Oprah!

+1

Off topic note: I think it's important for an admin to be in the forums regularly as a lot of information comes from the forums and it's good for non-admins to see an admin's name and their personalty thru out the forums. It's a great tool for judging who should and shouldn't become an admin because you can see there level headed responses (or not) and if their opinions fit with the Skial values.

Reports are a great way to show you care about the servers and the community, you're helping admins "clean it" from racism, hacking, griefing, etc etc.
So by your logic, there would be hundreds of admins for skial? And they would make reports, not players?

wat again

I generally use voice chat when on the server. If utilizing the chat logs religiously is part of the requirements, that should probably be listed as such. I haven't used the forums much, but I'm happy to improve on that. Knowing what areas to improve on are important to me, and I genuinely appreciate the feedback.
As far as hackers go, I have submitted demos to Steam directly, but not so much here. Again, I'm happy to gain more time and experience here on the forums.

I don't disagree that reports don't show you care about the servers and community. Please re-read my post. I just think if that's the rule it should be written a bit more clear as to what is expected. We need more admins. I rarely see an admin. Why would you have hundreds of admins? Couldn't you just cut it off a certain number? So many admins per server? So by logic it would be a matter of opinion on how it is run. I'm just suggesting to a place I plan to be apart of.

Yes they are, but I've been threatened to be kicked before while recording demos. So what do we do?

I’m reopening this application, because I disagree with Sargent. For a player who has 1K+ hours, is well known around the server she plays on, and is not a rule breaker, you shouldn’t discredit them over writing one paragraph too few.

I ONLY played on Goldrush LA when I was accepted. Let’s be a little more open to this application before derailing it.

On the application itself: I’ve played with Oprah. The players on PL know her well and interact with her positively (which is not always something that can be said for female gamers). She’s obviously known well around her server, which is plenty to help jump start her application. Lastly, I can’t say I’ve ever heard of her making a report or reaching out to me or another admin, so that is definitely a negative. Where it goes from here, she will have to vouch for herself.

Thanks RM! I appreciate it! And I know to reach out and submit a demo if I do see a suspected hacker, but will make sure to be more proactive about reaching out to admins.

Absolutely agree with RM on this - Sargent was wrong to close the application.

@Oprah Of Flamey Goodness - just to check, could you show how to use the ban command with a Steam ID?
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the command you've currently provided, we just like to see usage of Steam ID.
(Just to add to this, in the time that I've been an admin I've never even used a Steam ID to ban someone in game).

I've got no problems with the application, +0 for now.

Chill. I only pointed out that she didn't make any reports, which I personally consider essential for someone trying to be an admin. It shows they care about the community.
Now, don't come say (like socks did) reports are the job of admins only.

Oprah seems nice yeah, but as I don't know her, never played with her, can't see much of her chat behaviour since she uses mostly voice, can't see any reports or anything else that proves she "cares" about the community, I really can't support the app, so I'll go with a 0 as well.
