tbh I don't have an issue. If they were letting you buy straight skins, or something like that, I would. I don't mind additional incentive for them to keep coming up with new, great skins. I think it's actually a pretty good idea since they aren't an impact on the game.
It's like crates and shit with csgo. You pay for the game but it's not like the skins have an impact on the game. Except if you have a knife, you're not good without one.

You'd be very surprised at the people willing to toss money into stuff like this. They've proven people buy into this stuff time and time again in their other games. World of Warcraft charges exorbitant prices for various things like $25 per toon server transfers, $10-20 for little cosmetic companions that follow you around, $15+ cosmetic gear, $20 tokens people sell for gold and who knows what else is to come

Heroes of the Storm has $10-15 skins and charges $5-10 per hero. Hearthstone has people spending literal thousands on virtual playing cards to finish decks.

Overwatch won't be in any different when it comes to people throwing money at what ever Blizzard offers. Not everyone will do it, but there will always be people who buy into this stuff which means they have no incentive to offer these things for free beyond the finite amount of lootboxes you get from leveling because why do it when there's microtransaction 'whales' out there willing to throw hundreds into virtual item boxes?
but the tradeoff is too bad and the system would be highly impractical, i mean the value out of loot boxes in TF2 and CSGO is the tradability which isnt in it this, charging any value of money for extra loot boxes seems kinda stupid
Apparently once you hit level 100 you can reset back to 1 for more loot.
this seems like the much smarter choice which i can very well believe to be true and in the game

It still caps out tho is my point. You can only reset once if I'm not mistaken

I'm fine with paid loot boxes as long as we can still get them for free through other means without a eventual cap on how many we can get.

Someone suggested winning matches giving the overwatch currency which I think would be a good way, or maybe a chance at a loot box every match. Anything other than a hard level cap requiring the rest to be paid for

Just found this and it looks legit

Also this seems like it confirmes it https://twitter.com/PlayOverwatch/status/728279132950290432

Blizzard confirmed ages ago no lvl cap. In the beta alone a friend of mine was 2 times lvl 100. It definitely would be counter-intuitive if they capped you.

That open beta of Overwatch caused my Steam in-game hours to drop and now people I know IRL on Steam are congratulating me for playing videogames less and "focusing on the important things"

As if.

I'm so fucked up from Overwatch that I tried pressing E in a completely unrelated game to go back in time as if I was Tracer.

I dont think it would have been that easy since he was killing everyone and his team was supporting him

Still, would have had him have to deal with the tank / less freedom. There was really nobody even remotely harassing him or trying to. I mean the kid is crazy good sniper, not saying anything against it - just there are ways to stop a widow from running train on your entire team, and Im surprised nobody tried them considering this was some form of tournament (I think it was anyway.)

really like how they handled leveling up in this game.
the xp caps at level 23 so you won't take a whole week to level up from level 99 to 100
your levels reset when you reach level 100 in this game and you get a cool portrait for doing so.

means you can level up indefinitely so you get infinite loot boxes, so no need to buy them
this game man i love it
