but in all seriousness i've gotten the same error before i simply updated my computer reinstalled the game and it worked fine for me
im not exactly an expert at computers, but thats what worked for me

1. create a shortcut with a path "....\Steam\username\Team Fortress 2\hl2 -game tf"
2. uninstall TF2 with deleting all content physically.
