To me this feels nothing new, if you look at the statistics of how many shootings we get in America at this point, it went from a few shootings being yearly, to now almost weekly, and its almost to the point of becoming a daily shooting.
It's a conundrum, people do it for the media attention and the media can't not give them attention. It's like a fucked up plague.

I see it as kinda a wave of crime, like how everything has a trend to it.

Back in the 80's-90's being a Serial* (Thank you auto correct) killer was very popular with kidnapping in America. But the numbers of both have gone down tremendously over the years. I don't know if it really is just a end of crime trend, or its the fact that tec got better so its harder to get away with this kind of stuff. Either way, I don't know if this is something that will pass. History has shown that big popular crime waves do pass and something else worse, or better takes it place. Most of the time its worse.
