There needs to be a new server rule for general rudeness, annoyance, trolling, etc.

Right now, people can be as rude as they want as long as its not racist or sexist. I could swear all I want at people and tell them to kill themselves or something. But because this isn't racist or sexist, this is allowed?
Really?

These servers can be extremely cancerous and toxic at times, just because people are free to be as horrible as they want. This does nothing but make people upset and makes it an unenjoyable environment for everyone to play in.

Please take this into consideration. It is downright disgusting how some people here can behave without even a second thought.

Gonna quote myself from a earlier thread:

If I can be unpopular opinion guy here, I feel people are better off learning to deal with internet shit talkers and trolls than we are trying to censor them. If we silenced everyone who hurt someone's feelings Skial wouldn't have much of a player base left in the first place.

Also, note who this is coming from. I'm a admin and a flamboyant furry so I get more shit than a Tacobell restroom on a daily basis and it doesn't bother me because I don't take those type of people on the internet seriously.

Even if we made trolling/being a general asshole silenceable you'd still run into those people outside of Skial servers.

My overall point is, you are so, so much better off learning how to deal with these people than you are trying to censor them.

^ this too

Using !ignore and their name in chat should hide their text and mute them. Manually client muting them does the same. Takes 5 seconds and solves all your problems in a couple of clicks.

https://www.skial.com/forums/suggestions.13/ is where suggestions actually go.

Skial serves a large amount of players and not everything can be enforced. This isn't some 1950's sitcom, this is the internet and people tend to not filter their language online. I usually just ignore them, it's much easier to do that online and it doesn't waste your energy in responding to them. You're going to run into assholes on TF2 no matter what, but it's up to you to feed them responses or ignore them.

I highly recommend the !ignore command.

What about the people who dont know about !ignore? I didnt know about it till you posted here.

And how many people really report others? I'd imagine that the actual amount of reports would remain low.

Plus, if these people arn't punished, then they are going to learn that this is acceptable. That kind of behavior should never be acceptable

Unfortunatly, a lot of people don't care if they are being a "good person". Even outside of videogames, people don't get punished for being mean except if they are very young. A lot of players just want to play the game or don't care if someone is being rude. I didn't know about the !ignore until recently, I would suggest adding a little message for it in chat like the "donate to our servers" message. If you think that their behavior is unacceptable, then just remember that you are doing the right thing and feel good about it. There are many mean people in real life and in games, and they will be left alone and ignored because of it.

Enforcing a rule like this would be a pain for admins since you can't draw a clear line between joking and trolling. Everyone has their own idea what's trolling and what isn't so enforcing a rule this subjective will cause problems for everyone.

There isn't a snowball's chance in hell that introducing a no trolling rule is going keep the number of reports low. A rule like this will increase the number of reports drastically.

Welcome to the internet, not everyone is a nice individual (take me for example). Just mute them in-game. It takes maybe 10 seconds to find their name in the list of people and once they're muted you can't see their text chat or hear their voice.

Its impossible to enforce this rule correctly. We also aren't going to ban someone for swearing and hurting feelings. TF2 is a Rated M game.
