I'm kinda mad at myself, there are some cheap server rentals for Terraria. If I knew they were only about $11 for 1 month for a 10 player server I'd rent one out for a few months instead of buying some crappy games I ended up hating

What games?

Darksiders 1 & 2. Ended up hating it

More on topic, I do have a old laptop in my closet. If its decent enough I could run it as a 24/7 server. It has 3GB of RAM, a intel core 2 duo 1.7 GHz processor (can't remember the exact model number) and Windows 7.

I could leave it running 24/7 as its just a secondary computer that I never use. My internet connection is pretty decent too from what I've heard

The catch is I need to get a new hard drive for it, the GPU is pretty much dead so I can't run any GPU intensive things on it (I have no idea how server hosting works so I don't know if the GPU thing would be a problem) and I'm not positive but I would possibly have to run it off wifi, but I may be able to hardwire it to the internet.

Well it doesn't need actually to be 24/7, you can set a schedule or simply put it to work when we are all going to play.

I have a shitty acer laptop I could host on. Few questions, how to port forward and how much bandwidth does it draw?

If you guys don't mind some 'scheduled' gameplay I could also run it on my current desktop. Has 4GB of ram and a intel celeron g1620, should be plenty enough to host a terraria server

I'd just need some help figuring out how to do it. Never hosted a server before

Terraria needs decent specs, but a good internet connection. Otherwise it'll be laggy. Keep in mind that it requires more if you plan to host + play.

Options are;
Rent a server with community donations
Have someone host who can. I think grima can but we can test with others.
Basically it just needs to be run whenever most people wanna play, not 24/7.

I can host this really easy because I'm on my PC 16 hours a day so... yeah.

My PC ain't the best for hosting tho

Community donations would probably be the best route. Server rentals for terraria seem pretty cheap and they're dedicated servers so they can be up 24/7

When I get some spending money I can rent a server for awhile, but that may be awhile, money is tight for me

Okay, I'm moving back to my college area ~tomorrow. I will work on setting up a terraria / tshock configuration once I've finished unpacking and setting up my computer.
For now, I can run it on my main computer. So if I'm not livestreaming & I'm home, I can run it.
I also found an extra server PC I can use, but I need to buy a PSU first.

Edit:
I just remembered that my current place has limits on what ports I can use, so I can't host there.
So I won't be able to host until July 12-13. If anyone else wants to host in the meantime, let me know and I can send you the tshock configuration I'm making.

I could try to work something out, but wont be able to host more than scheluled, even thought i could try to set a server up but well, drum will be more suited to do that.

I could host it when you guys need me too, I'm switching more to xbox gaming so my gaming PC could prob handle it
