Whats the difference between a VPS and a dedicated server?

VPS = Virtual Private Server. Instead of renting out a whole server, you rent out a part of it. They're a lot cheaper and more suitable for smaller games like Terraria.

Yeah I don't want to just jump in yet until I'm 100% sure Terraria will work on a Unix box. There's reports of it running through Mono / wine, but I need to test it myself.
If it doesn't work with Unix systems, then someone would have to host or I'd have to rent a Windows server, which are always more expensive.

IMO the most problematic factor is that half of us are on the East Coast and the other half is on the West Coast. Not saying and LA/AZ server would be horrible, but I'd probably be getting ping somewhere in between 125-175

What about europeans?

Sorry, this will be more for Americans just due to timezones & possible latency issues. I know Lady played with us and she was fine, but the time difference is really hard to work for both. :|

I could try to work something out, but wont be able to host more than scheluled, even thought i could try to set a server up but well, drum will be more suited to do that.
