This is just little knick-knacks that have become rather-the-issue, it's something just as simple as our map cycling and the removal of a few maps.

In one day we can cycle to a single map at least 10 times a day ...
  • weaponsdepot
  • crevice
  • militaryarea
  • skyhigh
Now, these are wonderous maps, but like candy: you can only eat so much until you become sick. We spend a good 75% of our time on these maps. This map changing system also prevents us from playing on other maps. I've seen on other servers they have a map cycle block, where it prevents you from playing the same map without playing 7 others or so. It also keeps a played count on maps, to show their enjoyability in a sense.

I further put emphasis on a map cycle block that limits the amount a map can be played in a cycle interval.

Secondly, some of these maps are broken, never played, or just plain need removal

  • koth_mineland_b1
When we cycle to this map, it doesn't have VSH game mode, it has normal koth
gamemode.

  • palaquin_ship_novpk
The weather effects in this map heavily slow down gameplays and most players
can't even load the map.

  • arena_mariokart
This map is giagantic-even diffficult for the hale to get around, and troll players
like to sit in the spawn, which is impregnable by hale.

  • skyhigh_resort
Dead ringer spies and Medics have discovered a easy way to get away from hale by exploiting
the map via jumping off the edge of the map with watches and ubers. > reports are being filed on the issue

  • twinfalls_b1
There is a section (like in castleseige) where a engie can place a teleporter and teleport out-of-the-map-area, and the hale is unable to get to them, as the engie is able to damage the hale. This needs to be either fixed or map needs to be removed.

The maps that get played a lot are voted for because people like them. Removing maps that are frequently played is like removing Badwater from the Payload rotation servers because its popular.

It just makes no sense to remove them just because they're popular. On top of that, people may end up leaving the server for other servers to play their favorite VSH maps. I love weapons depot, if it gets removed I'll be one of those people having to go play on different VSH servers just to play a map I like.

I don't think he's suggesting the removal of the popular maps. rather I think he's suggesting changing the mapvote system to disable extending the current map or suggesting the previous one.

The intent wasn't to remove favorited maps, it was to place some sort of interval in map cycling between them. And we generally end up on these maps because they're first on the nominating list/voting list, have easy sniping spots, and a handy amount of health packs ... if we keep a mentality of playing on these same maps so often, then you might as well remove cube ... dam-it, farm_fued, waste, courtyard, area_fortress, all the valve maps, and other maps.
 
I can agree with you on the fact that maps need more variety, but I also think it's important to let players pick their maps. That said, every map change in my opinion, should alternate between player vote and server decision, or something along those lines.

And mariokart really does need to go.

Oh, the new voting system to be applied still lets you vote maps, just not ones you played recently.

Ah I see now, my mistake.

I can understand something being done with the vote system to add more variation
 
I added koth_ to the saxton hale map list and removed mariokart.

People told me they like palanquin.

Would you be willing to remove koth_nucleus from VSH? Hale gets airblasted down the hole and sometimes he doesn't get teleported back up and / or can't get out on his own, which usually causes him to take massive amounts of damage and usually die within about 10 seconds of falling down the hole

Not to mention people generally seem to hate the map for VSH from what I've seen

I love palaquin, it's an awesome map. But the changing weather effects and the changing background and what not makes playing on it difficult.
 
We just played on koth_mineland and it still functions as normal Arena. D: Maybe we should just remove it.

I also think west should be fixed or removed. that exploit is just too game breaking.
Also the only reason why we play it is when a some random tf2 USER who's never play on skial joins just to exploit and then gets banned. Literally, everytime we play on that map someone (that we've never heard of) gets banned.
