I think the reason why people hate Origin so much is because

1. It is very buggy / slow
or
2. It is EA
or
3. They have steam

I didn't have steam when it first came out. But i doubt it was bug free. Origin is trying to compete with Steam, and at the moment they are doing a pretty poor job. It technically isn't fair to compare the two . Steam has been out for what, 10 years? Origin isn't even a year old yet. So yeah if you compare them to each other steam is going to be the better choice. I think later down the road Origin won't be as bad as it is now.

Personally, i never had a single problem with Origin. I played BF3 with it and i had very little problems. However that was the only thing i used it for. So i later un-installed Origin because i personally like steam and the community.

both mirror's edge codes have been used for steam

Also thank you for being so kind ant and risen

Am I the only one who doesn't completely despise Origin?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's shitty forced marketing and my love will always be with Steam but all it is to me is just some program running in the background telling EA your deepest darkest secrets and watching you masturbate and people treat it as the spawn of satan.

It's just something that's just...there, people seem to overreact to it in my opinion

I have games on Origin (free promos and shit) so i'm fine. I have games i like on it, and it's not a completely bad program, i just hate EA

I think what Zebra said is the truth as far as why people hate origin, I would of put "It's EA" first though. EA really does do very much to get itself hated, and while this is a generous thing in my opinion this is simply an attempt to get some good publicity. They'll fuck up this act in a few months and go back to doing something ridiculous soon.

When Steam came out it was a buggy piece of shit and everyone hated it because it was forced DRM. Steam has it worked out, and Valve goes out of it's way to make you like it....The sales are absurd there is always something 75% off, and of course the holiday sales. Plus honestly, I'd rather have forced DRM by a company that isn't satan.

Just one of my favorite videos of all time. I'm sure many have seen it, but if you haven't it should probably give you a good laugh:

The fact of the matter is that since Origin is a distribution service for EA (I haven't checked in a while, does it have other publishers' games?), it is in the business of selling EA games for as much as is economically possible.

Steam is different in that it works to expand demand by lowering the price of titles. This alleviates what many people publishers see as the problem with used console game sales - primarily, that no dollars outside of the initial sale are seen by the publisher or developer.

As far as I know (watching r/gamedeals, Kotaku Moneysaver, Cheap Ass Gamer, etc.), Origin rarely offers door-busting deals. As long as the platform is just a shell for EA, I don't see it rivaling Steam.

I mostly like EA games. The problem i have with EA is their support staff, the way they handle account bans, and the fact they stop supporting games whenever they feel like it.

Otherwise I don't really find them that bad.

Fun fact, i think EA was voted worse company in America for two years now. Now I don't think that is truthfully earned. But it shows up fed up people are with EA.

Why they were voted worst company is pretty much three reasons.
1) This most recent time, the vote was literally day after the sim city fiasco.
2) When you get banned on their forums, you also get banned from your games.
3) They have a history of gobbling up small, well respected companies and murdering their IPs (Hello bullfrog, and westwood.)

EA games aren't that bad themselves, I am actually looking forward to titnfall, but at the end of the day will probably end up passing if its origin exclusive like it probably will be.

If you use it, please state it. Don't steal the codes if you already own the game or trying to be a greedy douche and resell these for a profit either.

On the side note
The only EA game I liked was Alice: Madness Returns, please don't hurt me :(

I'm still mad EA had a dispute with Valve and refused putting ME3 and ME2 DLC on Steam.

Also, spending $50 for the DLC of a game I bought on Amazon for $7? With no possibility of sales?
Sounds good awesome software great job

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising (also for Steam) added to the above average game pack.
