Invalid Map Exploit?

I asked gwor about this spot, he said he didn't want to ban r warn for it because it was allowed in the past. Also told me to post it on the forums.

My argument is that while you can get up there as an engie, i think the spot shouldn't be build-able because you can't place sticks up there. thus, exploit.

(wahwahwahmaducan'tbeatit) nope, but jubby built teles and a sentry up on roof on another stage as well. And to be frank, it's just not fun to have to deal with them.

just because an exploit isn't a super big deal doesn't mean it's not an exploit (weren't people banned for jarate through spawn gates?)

Good point. I don't know that it's an exploit though. How do they build up there and are you sure about stickies/rockets/pills not reaching? Maybe a demo simply needs to charge longer to get the stickies up there?

And for the record I think banning people for jarate through gates is asinine.

TF2 has been around for years, gate exploits have been around for a good chunk of that time.
If you're too bloody stupid to stand in front of the gate and let people piss on you. That's your own damn fault.

I don't even see how it's considered an exploit I mean it makes sense... piss would go through a gate. As would fire.

If Valve wanted it "fixed" then it would have been by now.

If I remember right a sniper rifle used to be able to shoot through the gates on dustbowl. Killing anyone behind it. Not entirely sure when it was patched.

yeah it is kind of dumb, but there are bans on record for it. I think ruelel has given out a few? I found out we even cared about that when people came in butthurt over a ban he gave them. Eitehr way the gate exploit isn't the exploit in question.

As far as the spot, stickies can reach it, but they bounce off the entire roof area. you have line of site to it so you can fire projectiles at it. My argument is that since you can't get a sticky to stick up there, it should most likely not be buildable. like building a lvl 3 in the middle of a cp capture point, or directly on the intel spawn location.

I wouldn't ban anyone for it if the buildings can be destroyed.
 
If projectiles can reach it then a sniper (rifle or huntsman), soldier, heavy, etc. should be able to take it out. Lack of stickies isn't enough imo, and even then they should stick but maybe they don't because they hit the buildings instead of the roof area? Also a skilled Demo would detonate the stickies mid-air before they hit anything...
 
This isn't an exploit, it's meant to be an areas you can jump too (it's a roof), i use it all the time on Thundermountain.

Saying this is an exploit means you'd have to consider other places like the "V shaped Roof" on Badwater between points 1 and 2 an exploit too?
Or the roofs on Frontier outside REDs 2nd Spawn.

It just means that a skilled engineer had been allowed time to set up.
 
Kill the sentry nest by long ranged stickybombs?
Plus, no matter what map it is, when there is no admins, people do exploits such as the ball through the gate during pre-rounds and jarate(restating what is mentioned before)
 
If its a building you can jump on i don't see what the exploit is.

They sentried jump up to the roof and built. Just because it isn't a normal sentry spot doesn't mean it is an exploit.
