Is this considered an exploit?

During the countdown until round start, you can throw a jarate and soak enemies standing near the mesh gates. If I'm correct it only seems to work on these mesh gates and no others. It has been doable for a very long time now, leading me to believe that it could be a intentional design.

It seems to me that people only stand in front of the gates at the beginning to do their taunts and such. Then at the last maybe 20 seconds they back off meaning that if they were jarate'd then it would have worn off by then.

I also saw this one scout using the sandman glitch every time before the round started at goldrush, but you can't see people's names through the gates QQ

If you're at the zoo and you stand to close to the lion cage something is bound to happen; claws more likely than jarate though.

Technically yes it's an exploit, but I really do think it's silly to ban for this since you really can't do much if they're not pressed up against the gate which is a dumb idea anyways.

It is because you're not supposed to be able to do any damage through the spawn gates unless they are open.

Oh I thought you were using splash damage as a reference to the original argument. I understand now.

If it was supposed to I think they'd let you throw it directly at the gate. Same with the flamethrower.
