Seriously though; I personally liked Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Wasn't the best thing ever imo but I still enjoyed watching it, and this is coming from someone who doesn't really care for anime.

Well i'm an anime expert. Watch some mainstream animes such as reborn,fairytail, naruto, bleach ,hunter x hunter (2011 version). The websites to use are either crunchyroll or anime season

One piece is too far to catch up on same with dbz you have to start from dragonball when goku and krylin were kids there is hundreds of episodes to watch.
if you want to start getting interested i suggest zebras suggestion
that is the fun part(Fact: i have watched over 300 one piece episodes in about 2-3 weeks)

Watching the current mainstreams that are still going on are better. They relate more to things now adays. I used to watch one piece. It had 500 episodes now. Its unnecessarily long.

So why can't he try DBZ or One Piece, one of the most popular animes, and see if he likes it?
You also suggest one or two or three animes with well over 100 episodes so idk what you are trying to say here. He wants to try anime, it doesn't matter how many episodes there are. Try a very popular one, if you like it keep watching, if not look for something else. He is asking for samples not to watch a whole entire series
I am also not telling him to watch every single episdoe. He asked which ones he should try, i suggested some.
