Declined Implement Guidelines for Thread Locking

Often times I have noticed threads being locked for no real apparent reason. I propose we implement a set of guidelines to justify and enforce fair thread locking. This way there will never be a question as to why a thread has been locked. Also this would prevent any trigger happy admin from stepping beyond the boundaries of acceptable behaviors.

It was already discussed somewhere by bottiger that mods need to lock less. If you see a problem, tell bottiger. Don't need to make a thread about it ;)

I am not debating the quantity of locks. I am merely suggesting some guidelines for them. I think it would go a long way to make our community more professional. Also it would prevent confusion and unnecessary threads following. I fail to see any negative aspects to this suggestion.
 
If we don't get any hate for locking a thread, then we know it was right. If we get angry messages saying to unlock the thread then we will (barring any obvious shitstorms that people still want to contribute to). Usually I will say why I locked the thread as the last reply.

I think if I were to list the guidelines I had in mind, you would change your stance. Not going to write all that out on my phone though. Perhaps if I see interest, I will type it out when I get done with classes.

Sounds to me like many unnecessary steps that could be avoided with some simple guidelines.

I don't think I would, but go nuts.
 
I do a report, I lock it after. I don't want four pages of forum trolls discussing pointless crap on reports.
I see a thread from someone like mario that's obvious flame bait. I lock it.
Anything else, ya'll can fight like cats in an alley with a half piece of old fish.

Report section is not what I am referring to. As far as I'm concerned, that section is on its own rule set.

Great to see the maturity Zeebz and Logan. Thanks for the dumb rates in this intellectual conversation. very mature

Not going to bother posting the guidelines if there is no interest. It was just a suggestion, and if nobody has an interest, I am not going to waste the effort. Feel free to dumb troll this post as well Zeeb and Logan. Might as well hit it since you hit every other post I made in this thread as well right?

Also, is Logan your alt, Zeeb? He seems to mirror everything you do. Also his account is barely even 6o days old, so I wonder...

Well don't expect us to ride the train if you're not giving us the direction it's going. If you had an idea, flesh it out then post. Then people could argue the specific points and not that it's just a dumb idea.

Honestly, with people like Logan and KillerZeebra, why would I spend the time to carefully construct a guideline when he's just going to blindly dumb rate whatever I post?

Edit: I rest my case. I love how Zeebz represents the admins with such maturity. Honestly, how a troll like him is still an admin is beyond me.

You made a suggestion and gave no details. I thought the suggestion was dumb. i rated it dumb. After the first dumb rate you freaked out, so i rated that dumb. The cycle continues. You claimed logan was my side account. He has been a member for about a month in a half not 6 days, so i rated that dumb.


As for my comment; its a joke. I don't see why you are getting so angry on something so stupid called "Rates that mean absolutely nothing".

Now i am locking this. Irony of the thread.

Make a new suggestion that post exactly what you want to suggest if you wish to continue. Start Fresh, new topic, more information, none of the posts above trying to figure out what you are suggesting.
