I just wanted to make some threads were I talk about the balancing of weapons, and my personal opinions on them.
The Reserve shooter is a hit scan secondary for soldier and pyro. It is part of the air borne armaments set for soldier.

The Reserve Shooter
Level 10 Shotgun
+15 faster weapon switch speed
Mini crits airborne targets 3 seconds after switching
-50% clip size
It is intended to use knock back/airblast foes into the air then switch to get fast mini crits to hope fully finish them off.
It does 88-82 at close range,51-22 at medium range, 21-13 at long range, while the enemy is on the ground.
In the air, it does around 80-70 damage when mini-criting, but only about but only about 30 or so after the 3 seconds. Most of my information was found here http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Reserve_shooter
My personal view on this weapon
I find the reserve shooter to be a formidable side grade to the shot gun, but I don't think it fits the air borne armaments set well. I think the man treads or gun boats would have fit better.
For pyro, I do think it works really well. The only thing I don't like about it is that with the degreaser its +100 weapon switch and it encourages pyros to air blast spam people, air blast is a fine concept. But it confuses people and it just seems abused.
TL;DR Good weapon, don't like that it encourages air blast spam.

i think its pretty good but i play dust bowl and there i need as many bullets as i can so vanilla shotgun is best for me plus i feel like it does more damage

I would never use it on Soldier, because if I launch someone in the air with my last rocket, I'm pretty sure they would die from my Shotgun shots and gravity anyways.

It only does more damage when you're using your shotty all spray-n-pray and get more grounded hoovy meatshots than airshots.

Only reason not to use a straight upgrade if it's banned on the server you play on.

For the Soldier it's not good at all, just takes away his clip size.

But for the Pyro... it opens up a lot of potential to not be chained to that pesky old Degreaser.

1.) It helps you deal with other Pyro's well.
2.) You can be more agressive with the stock flamethrower with it's damage and after burn.
3.) Try equipping a nice Homewrecker for a change since a well placed reserve shot will kill most classes instantly with the help of some burning. Not having to rely on Axtinguisher for your kills.

I'm basically promoting my loadout: Stock Flamethrower, Reserve Shooter, Homewrecker

a post...that isn't a troll? I have to give props on that.

As a soldier weapon it sucks, but I think that it sucks because it's just like every other soldier sidegrade - Fucking smaller clip size.

Degreaser + flare gun combo is more fun/rewarding/effective in my opinion. I make the best scouts rage when I practically insta-kill them with a flare punch.
Plus, the reserve shooter doesn't reload itself when you switch to a different weapon.

Can't kill other pyros with a flare sting.

It's too situational. Better to keep the normal one to use if you run out rocket ammo.

Not a fan of it myself. I think the 50% decrease in clip size far outweighs the increase in damage for the short period of time the target is airborne. if there is more than one target or you fail to kill the airborne target your pretty much stuffed. Plus if you aren't close enough to the target to get them airborne it's just a gimped shotgun. I'll stick with the stock shotgun
