A little harder? It's hard enough spawning with only one bandage and getting killed 2 minutes after getting hit once by a zombie - I mean, it's supposed to be realistic, right? Unless that's some super zombie infectation I can't think of anything but a fucking amputation that somehow makes you bleed from perfectly healthy to absolute stonedead. It's not fun, it's getting your ass kicked by a fucking NPC that exists everywhere. Weapons seem to suck as well. I hit a zombie like what, 5 times with a crowbar and even then he didn't die. But I die if I get hit once. It sucks. It's not funny.
That's an example of what I meant by awkwardness. Unless you have some sort of anime disease where blood gushes out of you with every prick of the finger there's no reason to slowly die because you fell 5 feet without having your handy dandy bigass bandage. I also find it strange that for some reason a guy decided to stand near the coast throughout the entirety of the beginning of the entire zombie apocalypse before he decided that it might be a good idea to find a simple weapon and some food. To me, that kind of stuff just seems pointless and breaks the immersion with how unrealistic it is.
With that said, once you have some essentials and a weapon, the only thing that can kill you is another player. It doesn't matter if there are 15 zombies around you, they will never touch you if you keep strafing, shooting, strafing, and shooting. Of course, it is impossible for a human being to shoot a gun while walking, so you have to choose when to stop moving. Or run through a building, which are holy structures that prevent zombies from running and will aid in your escape. There's also the human wildlife for when you decide to leave your lair of supplies and guns, 90% of which have absolutely no way of attacking you. This is great for when you are angry at the world one day and want to kill tons of defenseless people for what is imagined to bring upon delicious rage.
Just want to kill people regardless of whether you're playing the game correctly? Exploit the shit out of the game and risk facing an immensely delayed consequence. Hop servers for items and log off when people are actually putting up a fight for once like a little bitch. You'll also enjoy having so many hacked items used against you that it's impossible to tell which ones are real or if it would be honorable to log off and avoid dying by a bunch of cheaters. Avoid all operational helicopters in the very likely chance that someone spawned them into the game, as using it will stick to your account and get you banned when they eventually start swinging the hammer.
There are too many things to list that knock the mod down to a little less than the difficulty of the average game, and the only thing that makes it hard is how crippling some of the awkwardness is. It feels as though the essence of QWOP was expanded into the features, mechanics, and controls of a modern day survival FPS. What I was saying is that I would like the game to eventually feel realistic and difficult through honest challenging content. Currently all actual challenge fades away once you figure out how the game works, at least that's the case for me.
