dunno if we'll have the opportunity to play together but I recommend you use http://dayzmap.info/ to plan your exploits.

Also, i might want to play with you if you can aim, because I am bad, but I've been around the block ifyouknowwhatimean,
I use that. Typically I can aim, have not really had the change to acquaint myself with arma2's system though.

in arma2 you can get in the armory and fuck around with different weapons to get a feel for them.

Note to self, if some asshole puts barbwire under a ladder, don't climb down it. You'll break your legs and bleed out.

I found this video informative, as it told me how to deal with at least 60% of my deaths.

Got Arma 2 during Summer Sale but find myself annoyed as hell when playing DayZ. I run for 10 minutes to come to a village filled with zombies. As I'm crawling super slowly to town, searching for weapons, I get spotted by a zombie behind a bush. I run to get the zombie off me, long from town. Have to go back. Get hit by another ambushing zombie. Use bandage - ANOTHER ambush. Dies cuz bleed damage is fucking excessive. Spawn near a town that turns out to be absolutely useless since no doors can be opened. Zombie ambushes me, bandage, find a crowbar, tries to take down another zombie, he hits me once, dead. Fuck it. I was hoping that I could at least be able to get more than two chances before having to deal with that atrocious loading time.

I had just typed 3 paragraphs of me criticizing this mod, but it's in alpha so fuck it. He's done a good job so far.

I would just wait a while until all the quirks and awkwardness gets worked on before playing it regularly. They will hopefully make it a little harder and less exploitable after those fixes come as well.

A little harder? It's hard enough spawning with only one bandage and getting killed 2 minutes after getting hit once by a zombie - I mean, it's supposed to be realistic, right? Unless that's some super zombie infectation I can't think of anything but a fucking amputation that somehow makes you bleed from perfectly healthy to absolute stonedead. It's not fun, it's getting your ass kicked by a fucking NPC that exists everywhere. Weapons seem to suck as well. I hit a zombie like what, 5 times with a crowbar and even then he didn't die. But I die if I get hit once. It sucks. It's not funny.

That's an example of what I meant by awkwardness. Unless you have some sort of anime disease where blood gushes out of you with every prick of the finger there's no reason to slowly die because you fell 5 feet without having your handy dandy bigass bandage. I also find it strange that for some reason a guy decided to stand near the coast throughout the entirety of the beginning of the entire zombie apocalypse before he decided that it might be a good idea to find a simple weapon and some food. To me, that kind of stuff just seems pointless and breaks the immersion with how unrealistic it is.

With that said, once you have some essentials and a weapon, the only thing that can kill you is another player. It doesn't matter if there are 15 zombies around you, they will never touch you if you keep strafing, shooting, strafing, and shooting. Of course, it is impossible for a human being to shoot a gun while walking, so you have to choose when to stop moving. Or run through a building, which are holy structures that prevent zombies from running and will aid in your escape. There's also the human wildlife for when you decide to leave your lair of supplies and guns, 90% of which have absolutely no way of attacking you. This is great for when you are angry at the world one day and want to kill tons of defenseless people for what is imagined to bring upon delicious rage.

Just want to kill people regardless of whether you're playing the game correctly? Exploit the shit out of the game and risk facing an immensely delayed consequence. Hop servers for items and log off when people are actually putting up a fight for once like a little bitch. You'll also enjoy having so many hacked items used against you that it's impossible to tell which ones are real or if it would be honorable to log off and avoid dying by a bunch of cheaters. Avoid all operational helicopters in the very likely chance that someone spawned them into the game, as using it will stick to your account and get you banned when they eventually start swinging the hammer.

There are too many things to list that knock the mod down to a little less than the difficulty of the average game, and the only thing that makes it hard is how crippling some of the awkwardness is. It feels as though the essence of QWOP was expanded into the features, mechanics, and controls of a modern day survival FPS. What I was saying is that I would like the game to eventually feel realistic and difficult through honest challenging content. Currently all actual challenge fades away once you figure out how the game works, at least that's the case for me.

I'm pretty sure the reason i don't hate this game with all my being is because i had people do all the initial learning curve stuff before i played, and when i started playing they told me i was dumb, and then told me why.

There's been a bunch of talk on the dayz forums about where you should spawn. Also, fun fact for the ragiest, you used to have a gun water and food when you spawned. Then rocket decided that wasn't realistic enough and took them away.

Yeah arma cpuld do with some spray and pray technology. Also, barns and hangers down slow zombies. not sure what's going on with that, i just pretend the zombies flail too much indoors to get any speed. Also, that last part there is what rocket calls 'emergent gameplay'. lol. I have a friend who spent a bored week sitting on rooftops sniping people that had primaries in the new spawns area. Do you hate him too?

Again, this is why i love my friends that care more than i do. They tell me what's hacked. they can tell by the sound of the shots fired if something is hacked. good times.

I'm waiting with baited breath for this to turn into a full on mmo. like war z wants to be.

Why would I hate him? He does exactly what I do, except with sniper rifles. o-o
I was simply saying that it gets a bit annoying (to me) after a while when the only danger most people I come across pose is the load of zombies chasing them.

I get such a massive load of assault rifles and magazines, but I rarely ever come across both a sniper rifle and their bullets. However, while the idea of killing people instantly that cannot see me is amusing, I would rather have people see me with a load of gear and fear for their virtual lives while I consider showing mercy.
