If they made a hat that was also a cat, which class should it be for?

ME. OMG, and with circling heart- that would be my dream hat. If I could make any hat in the world, it would be a cat that you wear on your head with the circling heart unusual effect.

ALL CLASSES! But if it absolutely cannot be for all classes- engie, pyro & medic. Because those are the classes I like playing the most. There also needs to be a pocket kitty for the Engineer.

WHERE IS THE TF2 CAT UPDATE? CATFORTRESS! ;)

I love cats. I also like tapirs, parrots, etc. I like pretty much all animals, especially ones that aren't commonly loved like bats and snakes.

To answer how I became a SteamRep admin: I have a background in both retail and hospitality industries, and I have been doing online community management since the days of BBS (Bulletin Board Systems). I have 11 years online community management experience, not to mention my management experience in both retail and corporate environments. My husband, Mattie, was brought in as a SteamRep admin due to his solid trading reputation and his Steam community reputation as creator of EventScripts. As more communities were added, SteamRep needed more help so I offered my help to Mattie. They first brought me on as a forum moderator and trained me up until I was promoted as a SteamRep admin.

What's the gestation period of a Florida black bear?

Never mind, this isn't Google. :(

Anyhow, any advice to newbies on avoiding getting scammed?

Anyhow, any advice to newbies on avoiding getting scammed?

220 days, including delayed implantation. =D

I have a few words of advice, actually:
  • CHECK STEAMREP BEFORE YOU AGREE TO TRADE. Sadly, many scams are done by repeat scammers. Even if you're on a trade server, check the person out first. You can never be too careful.
  • DON'T DO CD KEY TRADES. NO NO NO NO. JUST NO. 99% of them are scams.
  • Do all your trades in ONE transaction and before you do the final click, WAIT. Triple-check and make sure that all of the items being traded on both sides is correct. If you just wait for about 5 seconds, you can prevent all of the scripted quick-switch scams.
  • I don't recommend doing cash (Paypal/Webmoney) trades but if you must, use a SteamRep/Skial middleman. Friend them directly off their SteamRep profile and YOU should initiate the trade with the middleman- NOT them. DO NOT initiate the friend request or trade request from a chat window. Every single fake middleman injection scam could be prevented if people did that.
  • Beware of impersonators. Always double-check the person with their SteamRep profile. Look at the number of hours of they have in games, the account creation date, etc.
  • If you get a bad feeling about the trade, DON'T DO IT. Trust your gut. If a person seems shady or you're not sure about them, get a middleman.
  • Scammers won't use middlemen or will insist you use a specific middleman that they directly link you to or invite to chat. Don't fall for it.
  • If the person has a private profile, they might be a scammer. Proceed with caution.
  • If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Always do your due diligence before a trade. Make sure you know what your stuff is worth and what the other person's stuff is worth.
  • Unless you are prepared to lose that item, do NOT lend your items to other people. Don't let them "try on", "borrow", "hold" your stuff- this is a common 'long con' and the person runs off with the item.
  • Trade only games that can be traded in the Steam trade. I've seen so many scams where a person agrees to "gift" a game and then never gifts it.
  • DON'T DO CROSS-PLATFORM ACCOUNT TRADING. Don't trade Steam items/games for Runescape/WoW/Diablo/etc. gold/accounts/items. This is becoming a VERY common scam.
  • Don't buy/sell Steam accounts. The original owner can always recall the account and say it was hijacked. It's also against the Valve TOS.

Finally, WHEN IN DOUBT, ASK AN ADMIN! We are here to help! :)

Are you an active trader, similar to your husband?

No, I am not. Mattie does the trading. Usually if I need something, I just ask him for it and he does the trading. I will occasionally sell weapons for my friend who doesn't trade at all or trade for silly things (like my current trade on TF2OP where I want cheese. LOTS OF CHEESE.) :)

What was the most ridiculous excuse you have ever been given to get out of a scammer tag?
Well, I'm not an appeals admin so I don't generally get the joy of dealing with scammers trying to get out of it. I did, however, get a scammer who left a message on my profile (in French, which I speak) where he first insults me, then tells me I encourage people to scam by marking them as scammers, and the last sentence telling me to unban him. Even if I was an appeals admin, insults are NOT the way to get untagged. -lol-
