On my home computer, the youtube stuff is not filtered. Glad to know people were actually posting good music.

Well there's also this:

I usually don't mind my little brother blasting anything with Eminem in it, as he's much better than most of the rap I overhear everyday, but I would legitimately pay him to never play that song. Does Nicki just taint everything she touches or something?

Does anyone else here remember when music was just about music?

You sure wouldn't have seen Elvis pull this shit.
lol, you realize that elvis was a sex bomb right? Pretty sure most greats have pulled the sex bomb angle.

Sex bomb? Perhaps for his time. But um, really now...Would Elvis have gone...here?

I don't think so.

He went 'there' for the value of 'there' that would have had the same effect in his time.

His hair, his clothes his hips. lol, he was his own little sexual revolution in a way.

That right there? That's an opinion. Loads of people, mostly people not a part of the target demographic, thought he was terrible. lulz, Lady Gaga is all about that social commentary. You'll notice most of her costumes are directly derived from great feminist pieces.

Yes it is my opinion. I can't be alone in that sentiment though.

Also, how is that art? It's.....icky... And yes I know what they're getting at, but I've never agreed with that sentiment.

I'm just saying that people hated Elvis, people hated the beatles and people will hate lady gaga. People hate everything.

It is 100% art. I know because i can defend my position that it is art.

This dress was not met without harsh criticism either.
The Toronto Sun and sister paper Ottawa Sun printed a cartoon featuring "a curvy, spaghetti-strapped slip" made of the same materials as the meat dress. The editorial cartoon suggested readers cut out the image, smear it with foodstuffs, and mail it to [show curator Diana] Nemiroff; her address was included with the image. A writer for Canadian Art noted how the cartoonist suggested respondents use the most repulsive material possible, as "Diana will like that," was an emphasis of the curator's gender, with subtly sexual suggestions. The mailroom opened mail with gloves for weeks after the cartoon; one was covered in feces. A sexually-threatening letter was sent to the NGC communications officer, who had been quoted in articles about the work. The writer for Canadian Art suggested reaction would have been different if the genders of the artist and curator were different, that the work would have likely been deemed sexist, for starters.[3] In all, 200 people mailed food scraps to the National Gallery of Canada within a week.[1]
lulz. DO YOU WANT AN ART HISTORY PAPER FROM ME. I FEEL LIKE I MIGHT HAVE ONE SAVED BACK HERE SOMEWHERE... oh wait, no i don't. damn.

think of all the starving children that could've been fed with that.
LOLOLOL so that was totally the argument that the detractors made. When the original dress was made people in positions of power were all 'HOW DARE YOU, WE JUST CAME OUT OF A RECESSION." And the artist and curater were all "Dude, you put us IN THE RECESSION, FUCKING LEARN2ECON101 BEFORE YOU TELL US WHAT ART IS ACCEPTABLE"

Seriously... It might be art, but it's wholly tasteless and wholly wasteful.

But I thought the same thing about burying Michael Jackson in a solid gold casket.

well, people like me see that and just look at it as a waste. I mean if you were barely living off of money from the government you probably would too.

Dude, no, that's not the... ::facepalm:: I'm just going to be all the way over here. With my women's studies 101 and fem performance art classes. I'm just going to not talk about how the dress was a statement on the nature of decay and how women are/were trussed up like pieces of meat to be ogled until they've gotten old an rotten just to be replaced with a never model. Not going to say a thing about how the piece's strongest detractors were men who didn't 'get' what it was saying. Yeah. Me and my opinions are stay waaaaaaaaaaaaay over here.
