Servers: US21 Dustbowl (99% of my TF2 time)

HLStatsX: http://www.skial.com/stats/hlstats.php?mode=playerinfo&player=317270

Time Zone: EST (I know there are a lot of EST admins), most evenings and early mornings on the weekends.

Admin Experience: None besides reminding players of server rules and a report or two.

Age: 15

Additional Information: Been on Skial servers (mainly US21) for, if I remember correctly, a bit less than a year. Whenever I'm on TF2 I'm on Dustbowl. Know a lot of the regulars, know some of the admins, don't troll, go by server rules, and all that stuff. I'd like to focus mainly on Dustbowl, as I am there most of my game time.

So yeah.

Before applying for admin, it's a good idea to get known on the forum.
Your connection time is good, I mean, THIRTEEN DAYS? But you only have 19 posts here and I can't give you +1 until I have some idea who you are

Seems redundant to have another admin that would have the same sleep cycle as current admins that already reg that server.

First of all, thank you for making an application after spending some time on the servers(I mean seriously, 13 days is a lot)
there is one flaw i think; While your form account has been here a while, I haven't seen you on the forms regularly.
I'm all for extra support, so long as i at least know the person a little.

Old post, I know, but to be honest, I don't understand this logic. I think it's best to have as many responsible admins as possible available at any given time. While, sure, it could get kinda crowded with 10 admins all online at the same time, if they're good admins and can do the job well, it's better than having 5 admins online at once who suck at it.

I never quite understood the need to regulate the amount of admins. It's the quality we should worry about, not the quantity.

I only gave people disagrees on their posts because they said Doctor Who needs to be known more. He's not only a Dustbowl Reg, but on the friends list of many of our Regs and Admin. He's a great guy all around, and I think he'd be ready for Admin.

If every admin plays us21 and sleeps at about the same time and we have a bajillion admins but none of them go on adventures to us5 or where ever and they always play in clusters you essentially only have 1 admin for every 5 people you gave admin power to. So it might seem that you had 30 admins, but since they're all on at the same time and only a few of them do the heavy lifting you really only have 6 effective admins.

Also, it might be wise to give the reg clusters on the other servers admins since... yanno, it would make them feel more involved as a group with the mothership that is skial.

That's true, Giildy, but still has nothing to do with the question: what's the downside of having too many admins?

Not +1 -ing this application by any means, I do remember better suited people applying lately, I just don't think it would do any harm to get more people if they are trustworthy, since there's no admin cap we have to fit under.

Not the too many admins part, but the too many admins from one place and sleep cycle part. It turns admin-ship into a server related thing. 'Oh if you play on dustbowl you'll get admin.' (ugh, when I applied that was suggested to me. 'you'll never get admin if you don't play dustbowl' was the vibe I was getting when I snooped around before applying. Then it turned into 'You'll never get admin unless you both play on dustbowl and still somehow manage to not overlap with their timezone/sleep schedule.') Get people from different servers is my point. So that the community of regs on those other servers has someone they already feel familiar and comfortable with to go to with questions that make them feel stupid like 'oh hey that guy was griefing, I think i recorded a demo of it, could you watch it? Did I do i right?'

The other problem is that you never learn how reliable or trustworthy an admin is if they never have to do anything. If there were 32 admins that all played and slept at about the same times would half of those people even notice if they had their admin rights removed? Why bother promoting people to the point of uselessness?

Wow, I haven't checked this thread in a while. And about that 57% activity, I'm assuming that was during my spring break. Spent a few days away from TF2 learning how to make hats.

It's very rewarding.
