Rage-Inducing Forum Troll
either make votemute harder to accomplish (65% passes 90% of the time) or remove the gag on it, muting is one thing; but not being able to talk sucks really hard, especially when smug assholes that called the mute constantly talk shit and there's nothing you can do about it (besides trying to gag them back). votemute is already abused, removing the gag would give votemenu abusers lesser to no incentive to abuse it in the first place.

make voteban easier to achieve, 91% is damn near impossible unless the ENTIRE server presses yes, if the guy griefing presses no, then the chance of the vote failing is dramatically increased, if another person (ie: a friend, or an accomplice in griefing) votes no to, the vote is pretty much screwed.

also, reinstate votekick, or replace voteban with votekick, kids on the server shouldn't be able to ban people anyway. also with no admin presence on the server, it's nice to have a reliable tool to kick griefers with, maintain the % high enough that the large majority of the server has to vote 'Yes', 4 or 5 rotten apples shouldn't spoil it for the rest.

I think it would be wise to uncouple mute and gag. Then again what if it's someone spamming the chat? I doubt enough people know the difference between a mute and gag.
The reasoning for why you want it uncoupled is pretty bad though o.0

If you make votebans easier we'll get more people coming in asking why they were banned. waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more.

votekick maybe should come back. :-( Sometimes you just want to tell someone you won't put up with their shenanigans without making them unable to reach the server for a half hour.

Do you have a hard time getting admins to come in and ban griefers? lawd knows I love it when someone griefs and doesn't stop after being asked to stop because i get to frolic into spectate and record a demo of them. :D

making a mute and gag a separate function could work too. i'm personally not a big fan of the gag option being tacked onto the votemute atm because i feel it only needlessly empowers people to keep abusing votemute, not a lot of people use a mic, so the mute effect is gone to waste. people mostly use votemute out of spite towards people they don't like, or out of curiosity (there's one guy who keeps asking "guys what does gag do" and then obliviously starts votes at random against different people, same person also starts votes to turn all-talk on and off and then bitches at the server that all-talk should be turned on again. i wish i was making this up).

why bother having a voteban option if it never succeeds, in the past two days people couldn't finish three votebans because they ended in 90% out of 91%, those three votes were legit and against people that were dicking the server up. and whilst that problem occurs daily; votemute gets abused endlessly, those three votes were just against griefers, there are also voteban votes against afk's that don't succeed with similar numbers (it's very boring to have the last person alive be an AFK, and the hale is totally unaware of that, and spends the next 5 minutes searching for every nook and cranny; except spawn).

i maintain that the votemenu system isn't ideal for dealing with hecklers and stuff. it's more suited for abuse than it was for actually cracking down people that purposely ruin the server, i'm pretty sure that Wujas person (and some others) purposely make use of the votemenu system so that they can't get votemuted and votebanned themselves, if it's on cooldown; they can spam shit all they want until the next cooldown. it wasn't until people started making threads and reports about him that the admins catched on to what was happening on the server.

The reason why the votes are as high as they are, is because people would spam the votes and piss everyone off. Now since it is to high to do, people with valid reasons are not able to do a vote. In a sense it was picking the better of 2 evils.

or you could just have it in the middle.

Even the middle is an iffy place, because people are playing and not thinking to rationally, they see a vote and don't even look at what it is and say yes, now there are the certain few that pay attention and then decide yes or no, sometimes the people that pay attetion are the people that make the vote not pass.

the only vote that is high is the voteban, votemute is still being spammed and it's efficient at muting and gagging players with it's glorious 65% succession rate. it begs the question why voteban is still an option, and why it isn't replaced with an easier to achieve vote that stops the same problem with less severe repercussions for the person that got targeted with the vote.

still, the best would just be more admin activity on VSH, votemenu doesn't make a good sheriff.

I agree with most of what you just said, but I believe voteban is still active for that rare case we get a really bad troll and everyone or close to everyone agrees he/she should be banned.

the majority of the time if people are micspamming and get muted. they start trolling / spamming the chat.or trolling the guy who started the vote.

I say no, leave it as it is. If you are doing something wrong for people to even bring up the silence on you, you should be gagged and muted.

Not to mention that it's only a mute. In the slightly rare case that its abused and you THINK you didn't deserve it, oh well at least you can still play. On top of that it lasts only 30 minutes I believe.

On the flip side is there any way to make it so that if someone does get muted, they can't start/spam a vote to mute/ban others?

You're pretty much the only person complaining about vote silence. I'd say it is working as intended. If someone is really abusing it they should be reported.

When we had vote kick with lower requirements, people complained that abusers were using it to grief. Since kicking is not logged to a single place, and people don't report kick abuse as much as ban abuse, it was the logical decision to remove it.
