So, for a long time now I've used the strategy of buying slightly below backpack.tf/TF2Outpost prices and selling for around that price, but lately I've had many people tell me the best way is buying for the bp.tf price and resell ABOVE that price. Which do you think is best and why?

Just a little discussion thread ;3

I am a blatant shark I buy super cheap stuff that sells and wait to sell it for some high price I would suggest you do the same if you wanna go anywhere in tf2

eh, sharking has its benefits, but can take forever to find the correct victim, and there is the upcoming threat of steamrep thinking about marking sharkers.

I usually just price my items normally, and jump on a bandwagon when something is going for cheap.

Wait, buying stuff for a reclaimed behind backpack.tf prices and reselling would be considered sharking?

scanning someone's bp on a server, finding a high-price item, then buying it for cheap is the process of sharking. Buying something cheaper than bp.tf is not sharking.

Ah good, I couldn't get myself to do that to someone anyway :P

.

That would be incredibly stupid. There is a difference between scamming someone, such as doing a charge-back on a cash trade, but sharking is a smart way of trading, although it may seem a little dickish. Steamrep can't even really tell if someone sharked, as evidence that someone payed well-under the normal price is not enough for a sharking tag to be in place.

An easy but time consuming way to gain funds is to buy something cheap, such as halloween items, when outside the event then hold them till the next event then sell for profit. Did it with souls bought like 150 for 3 per weapon last halloween when they were incredibly common and sold them for a rec per this halloween = mass profit.

I use to buy a little lower than pricelist then sell for pricelist or a tad over if it was a popular item.

ie: I was buying pistols for .44 and selling for .66 Sold a dozen a day or so and bought lots. I enjoyed the trading and the bit of income i made more than mass income and feeling like i scammed someone.
