Norton is the most annoying piece of shit ever, whenever i use my schools computers i get 5000+ popups telling me im doing unsafe things when im like checking my email

Macs get viruses too. People just don't think they do because there aren't as many written for them. That doesn't make macs any better they just aren't worth it.

If you are going to spend time writing code you are going to do it for the OS that will affect 90% of computer users.

I use ESET Smart Security. It costs a helluva lot, but I guess that's why they have thepiratebay....

One thing I want to know is how you can say an AV is good from user experience... you can't see what it does let through.

Nobody is recommending an Antivirus solely based on what it lets into your computer or not, in that case we can not recommend any Antivirus because there isn't any perfect security suite. User experience are based on three things: the amount of false positives, the performance hit and what the Antivirus clearly stops and doesn't stop.

I can recommend NOD32 for its light performance hit on my computer, its few false positives and my user knowledge that my computer didn't get slower, popups or anything that could point at it being infected. Of course I may have been infected all along, but an user experience and recommendations will only be as helpful as you take it to be.

Linux is like Mac, not enough people use it to justify creating a virus for it. If tomorrow Linux and Mac had an equal share of the PC market, the day after tomorrow would be the day bad guys cared enough to target them.
For the record, I am not a rabid Windows fan. Each os serves a purpose, and windows serves mine. I experimented with various Linux distros for years, but none could do everything that I needed. This tf2 on Linux was the first time I had touched it for awhile.
