Does it really matter? If he still lives after the sentence, someone will end his life quite fast.
Hell, they should give a medal to the person who kills him.

Edit: Oh yeah, 21 years is the minimum.

The "Muslims vs. Christians" withstanding is a never-ending shit. Unfortunately fanatics of both religions are gonna be killing civilians, not fanatics from another camp.
I'm a christian, but this fucker deserves to be shot on the sight. Killing kids in a summer camp? Fucktard.

So it's equivalent to a life sentence with the possibility of parole in 21 years like in the US.

Also, at least for the time being he's going to be in isolation. I think that would make any sane person crazy at least after a while. He'll be 54 by the time he even has a chance to get out.

Yeah I read that part, but who knows. It depends completely on the poltics of who handles his release. Right wing idealogues will be more lenient to him, and left wing idealogues will want to lock him up forever. He just needs a bullet to the brain and be done with it. I think 77 people is enough to get a death penalty in any book.

They don't have the death penalty though, right? My idea is that you're crazy if you want to kill anyone over their beliefs.
 
Norway has ass-backwards punishment laws.

If he was found insane, they had built a muli-millon dollar cell (just for him) and it would have cost 1.3-1.7 million dollars a year for the 17 people hired (to take care of just him).
Because he was found guilty, he'll be in a cell a little bit bigger than a college dorm room (and it's nicer than one) with it's own study and workout area.

I so mad. Whoever thinks Norway/Scandinavia is some magical place where everyone is happy and there's only rainbows is delusional.
 
I think there's a difference between that and where Breviek is going. That's probably like minimum security
 
Probably cuz this is the worst attack/ incident Norway's had since WW2. They don't really have the semblance of a criminal justice system because the crime rate is so low. I am appalled at this man's sentence, but most Norwegians are just happy he's behind bars. They're a lot more trusting and hopeful at rehabilitation. So... Americans freaking out over cultural differences? Nothing new
 
If declared mentaly ill, he would have a course of therapy and be released in 15-20 years. the fact he has been declared sane, means he will never get out. once the 21 years is up, he will be assesed if he is still a danger to society, and oc he will never change, he is too proud of his actions. if he lasts the time anyway, fact is child killers don't do well even in solitary.

Uh...about two or three at most of his victims were Islamic. The rest were kids at a Socialist Party youth gathering, as were the few Muslim kids. He targeted the Socialist Party because he thought their immigration policies were too lax and would allow some sort of Islamic takeover of Norway. And so he decided to shoot kids, rather than protest or take political action. What a guy. :(
