haste is hilariously broken on high ping players (getting hit from incredibly far away because the knockback you took from getting hit hasn't been processed on their end) to the point that it benefits high ping players more than it does low ping players. agility will still increase his move speed and slightly increase his jump height, it's what he should've been given in the first place. because while it might not be as bad as haste, it's at least not giving high ping players an advantage over other players who actually live close to the servers that they choose to play on.

so what does agility give you (that's actually relevant to VSH) compared to haste?
+50% move speed bonus and +80% jump height
haste gives you:
+30% movement speed and 2x firing speed (so a 100% attack rate bonus in other words)

TL;DR: replace powerup that benefits high ping players more with powerup that doesn't benefit high ping players, but generally serves the same purpose; increasing vagineer's movement speed.

It was already on agility before and it didn't help vagineer's low win rates.

he also had the 8 seconds of uber when he used rage back then, so any competent red using the holiday punch was able to shut him down. it just feels like you're reluctant to try giving vagineer agility again because it's not as busted as haste is. and thus doesn't benefit vagineer as much. and with vagineer's far shorter uber duration now, he's far less likely to get stunlocked by a single holiday punch heavy. and to top this whole thing off; try opening up a poll like DanishSoup did (the state of freak fortress 2) for the "state of skial VSH" to get a better understanding of the people who actually play skial VSH and how they feel about hale-side and red-side balance. you might get some useful data out of it.

the complaints from being hit a mile away is related to high ping players playing as hale, and this has always been a problem with high ping players. and when i use the term "high ping" i'm referring to people with pings higher than 120. and it's always been a constant issue.

But you're comparing the win rates of vagineer with 8 seconds of uber, so unless you have tested him with a split second of uber and agility for his rage, then I dont really see how it can be compared. Also if holiday punch is so much of an issue, then why not ban it?
 
I'll also like to mention, that its not fair that whatever is suggested on the forums is immediately declined without any testing or proper discussion with the person in charge. So it's a bit unappealing to try and suggest things on these forums, knowing it's likely going to get declined anyways. Painting everything as a bad idea isn't a very professional way of going about things

I'd say it's unanimous so far with these active players of the server. And yes I do have 6 good reasons why haste is bad for a hale:

  • Heavy, the tankiest of any class, has his health deleted in almost less than a second during his rage, which ruins the point of playing heavy
  • It incentivizes hales to spam super jump to acquire rage, which also defeats the point of the health loss on jump system
  • Super jumping gives hale rage (continuation of point 2) which makes for easy kills with haste at the starting 10 seconds of the match
  • Haste removes the punishment of missing calculated hits during a rage, when more swings means more chance of hitting
  • Rage already slows you down and stuns, so haste increasing movement speed and attacks makes rages almost a death sentence in the radius
  • Hales do 200+ damage per swing, which makes for absurd damage during haste which increases attack spead, therefore increasing dps
Giving him agility instead of haste would prevent him from being stunned with holiday punch, and also allow hale to escape if needed

Because we already tested it for many months.

We switched vagineer to agility and people said it was good because it made vagineer very weak and easy to beat, having a ~35% win rate. So we increased the uber to compensate for it and then people whined about uber.

People here have no idea how much time and effort we spent balancing this game mode already.
