It has all the same old problems of idling for item drops and it even has some new problems. You can just sit at the main menu and you will get one card each hour. You can't ever collect a full set, so you are going to have to trade to get item sets. Now obviously no one is just going to give you it for free, so it forces you to put in resources from elsewhere in order to collect a full set, be it money, keys, or items.
Now aside from that, the leveling and XP system is also extremely flawed. You have to get to level 10 to showcase stuff. Yet currently there are only 6 games that have Trading Cards, each giving you 100 XP (which gives you 1 level each). That means you need to have 4 other badges that are around 100 XP each to get to level 10. And that is considering you have all 6 games. For most people that is virtually impossible, and I have only seen several people who have showcases.
In addition, owning games on Steam doesn't give you any XP. Only the first game you own will give you 100 XP. You can have 1000 games on Steam and be level 1. Which doesn't make sense at all. The most avid supporters of Steam should get some recognition. Granted, each additional game you own should give you less XP or else there will be people who have levels in the hundreds, but there should be something.
