I can't help but feel that this is somehow my fault. Perhaps because I said that two racists wasn't worth getting on TF2.

It's not that. I didn't know how to properly ban someone through console, hence I thought either: another admin was already on it, or I thought I would be able to ban them through SourceBans.
I didn't want to start up TF2 because then I would have to explain why banning someone was more important than family matters.
