You don't have to understand any of that shit to succeed as a Soldier lol

At least with Phlog Pyro you have to get close to the enemy to actually do something, when Soldier is effective in almost every situation.
if you're sniping as soldier, there's a problem, soldier works best in close quarters as well, only reason to be far is if there's a senry.

You guys are arguing over pyro vs soldier when literally the easiest class in the game (sniper) is yet to be nerfed.

All you have to do is click on heads and not get backstabbed and you win.
Like shoot feet get kills is much harder.

Sniper is a class whose damage and fragging ability comes directly from the skill of the player. If one is bad at it, the team will likely suffer and so will you. (In a competitive setting)

I honestly can't play soldier too close to the enemy. I'm shit with stock rocket launcher and can only even do decent with the direct hit at medium range to other people. It took me almost two hours to complete a soldier contract the other day on the new payload map because everyone kept getting close and I couldn't get a hit. Most people I see in close quarters as soldier (aside from BASE jumping market gardeners) are killed relatively quickly as well because they're so slow

At least with soldier you have to be somehwat close to get the insta kill.

Even a mediocre sniper can hover over someone's head and clikc the left mouse button and look at that 450 damage for just aiming. Get two of them and you can lock down a good portion of the map.

And in competitive it's even more blatantly obvious because you see snipers completely dominating once they get their aim down. It's a pretty laughable class.

I didn't know people still cared about the TF2 meta tbh

As long as Scout isn't fucked I'm okay with whatever they do.

And I thought I was trash when I couldn't hit any airshots with my Direct Hit contract. Still didn't take me 2 hours, though. :D

By nerfing sniper you are nerfing the player. I think a player who puts the work in to get good should be rewarded. If you put a low level player on a high team the class will not carry them.

I personally am thinking about 6s, not highlander. In highlander, the sniper is sort of dumb, but that falls to the razorback and everyone using it. In 6s, sure a sniper can have a good damage output, but it's just not equal to a scout.

Scout has their speed, soldier has health and speed, heavy has large health pool. Sniper has none of these things going for him.

Sniper and heavy in fuckin 6's? That's off classing right there, and because of how mobile every other class is (scout, demo and soldier) you're at a serious disadvantage playing sniper. And if the sniper is actually really good, then shit he should be applauded for being able to deal with all the bullshit coming at him.

Highlander is like the only actual competitive game mode you can find sniper and he's a huge advantage to the team. Once he picks off the other sniper the other team basically has no chance of getting rid of him (aside from the spy, but the entire enemy team is pretty jumpy so good luck with that) unless they pick him off with one of the roamers. He's a big presence on the battlefield and the hardest part of his play style is placement, aim comes naturally with play time.

Aside from changes, was having quite a fun time on the new maps, really REALLY fun. Little clip of some shenanigans on highpass:

Im just gonna leave this here

There's one situation that Soldier isn't viable, meanwhile Pyro isn't useful in nearly as many as Soldier.

that's because fixing the hitboxes is the only way to nerf them at this point
They could always reduce headshot damage.
