Declined The unmoderated section is a REALLY bad idea!

It's the exact opposite of what the community needed. I was working on trying to quell the flames of anger and get everybody to agree to at least be civil. What the unmoderated section did was throw gas on the fire. Everybody's arguing with each other and being massively stupid. There's no civility to the arguments and no solution to them.

On top of that, it's taken over the "What's New?" list of posts. How does that reflect on the community to new users? Somebody comes here to trade and instead they see a schoolyard clusterfuck of wild west proportions.

Seriously, does ANYBODY think this is a good idea?

Well, seeing as you are trying to get people to become friends/act normal it seems like a kinda stupid idea since it just makes people free to start shit whenever and however they want with anyone.

But it also is a place for people to vent their anger, altough i have mostly seen NSFW and trolling so far. I'm split on this, but its a no from me.
 
I say let their be a shitstorm forum. As long as nothing illegal is going on, let people post random crap. Hell, we might even get a few golden goose eggs out of it that will be reposted eternally.

Don't be a NoNo. We've always had a problem with this and just deleting posts and locking threads don't seem to work too well.

EDIT: Also, I haven't seen it show up in What's New...maybe I'm just blind. If it does, maybe we can get it to not show up.

How bout we have people carry out their problems in PM's... Can't admins, like, transport posts to other places? Why don't you just take any arguments people have that are off topic, make a pm for them, place the arguments in the PM...

That's what I was trying to do in a civilized manner before Bottiger made this section... Fortunately, two of the three successes I had so far weren't undone... But now I don't know if I can continue my project since this section had basically undone what I was planning.

I feel that it's a lot of unnecessary work. People are always going to publicly complain about others, so having a section be designated for things like that is better. Moderating all those conversations can get overwhelming and would probably become a full time job at some point due to volume.

That's my point! It's terrible but can possibly lead to some amazing things. /b/ is the asshole of the internet, the unmoderated section can be the asshole of skial. Everyone needs an asshole otherwise where would all the shit go!?

OT: It would be better if people would just take their shit to private conversations.
 
I think having people talking shit out privately is much better than waving around filthy laundry in a forum subsection, imo.

That section is the only sanctioned place for drama. Drama is redirected there. It was made to hold the drama.
 
I say keep it. Take it out of the "What's New" queue, and whatever. Let it fester. Leave the rest of the forums better, where the rational people can be.
