Hello, welcome.
My name is Badman, and I am a bad man. Im severely stupid, but gifted in few ways.
But this isnt about me. No. This is about the My Name Jeff meme. Todays post will cover the My Name Jeff meme, using a simplified explanation Im gonna steal off Knowyourmeme, and then will be followed by more indepth information by yours truly. Im aware this will likely get taken down, but its not meant to be serious, its a joke
ORIGIN
On June 4th, 2014, the film 22 Jump Street was released as a sequel to the 2012 film 21 Jump Street. In the film, police officers Morton Schmidt (played by Jonah Hill) and Greg Jenko go undercover as hispanic gang members, leading Jenko to introduce himself as "Jeff"
SLANG
"My Name is Jeff" may arrive at a situation under different terms. Usually, the term is spoken as "My Name Jeff", but may also come under "My Nama Jeff", "Jeff", "Chef", or "Nama Jeff", or may even be spelt 'Geoff'. The possibilities are endless. You may even spice things up by using anothr language to state the term, like "Ich Name Jeff", or "Mynazovich Jeff".
USES
My Name is Jeff has a menagery of uses. Its base default use is intended for neutrality, I.E an introduction or greeting. To say "My name Jeff" to someone youve just met, is a way of initiating contact between each other. There is no malicious intent, just good friendly banter.
However, there are positive and negative uses of this phrase.
A negative use of My Name is Jeff would be using after a fight, to imply "Your actions were pointless", or to irritate. To imply "Name Jeff" after someone has introduced their name, implies arrogance and ignorancy towards their real name, and as such dictates little to no interest from your point of view. "My Name Jeff" can be used to show you feel superior to the current events going on, especially should you not be called Jeff.
However, a positive use of "My Name is Jeff" would be to use it in agreement with something. "Nice weather we're having, isnt it chap?" "Name Jeff" implies a slight agreement on the users end. They acknowledge that what has been said has some truth to the statement, but isnt necessary to the moment at hand.
A true neutral stance of the statement, put simply, is when your name actually is Jeff. This would dictate to everyone your name, and that you have no clear motives. You are as mysterious as you are Dangerous, and as Saintly as you have declared.
WHY HAVE YOU MADE THIS POST
The simple reason? To interact. To spread joy. And to make people aware of the uses this wonderful phrase carries. Its like the N Word, but all races may use it. It has a history, it can be shifted to mean something in particular, it can be used to bring joy, or dismay. You may scoff and think this is just a shitpost, but its simply an honest point of view. I am but a mere donator, I have no power here. But I do have this spot of knowledge to pass on to the people I hope to one day help.
Also cos I thought it was funny and at least if it actually is, Ive made up for using said N Word
