TF2 Servers Under Heavy Load?

Hello, recently I've noticed when me and my friends play on any skial servers (Mainly either US or NY) we will get random ping spikes on the server. These spikes range from taking our ping from 30 to around 120 to 300 ping. They happen for both my friend and me. However, when we join another server, it never happens. Are the skial servers under heavy load right now, or are they just lagging themselves?

Any info will be appreciated.

I don't actually know the answer, Bottiger would be able to give a precise explanation, but it could be narrowed down slightly and give some more info to identify the problem.
Is it everyone on the server getting these kind of pings or just you and your friend, and how often/regular would you say it happens?

Other people who say they live near the server's hosting area report having high pings constantly and for my friend and me, it happens probably once or twice a round.
 
People have been complaining about spikes with the Steampipe update. But you should use winmtr and netgraph 5 to make sure it isn't a problem with your internet.
