It is seriously looking bad for muffinman

He’s gotta alot of explaining to do
This message is pretty far removed from what I'd call constructive criticism. I don't recall ever interacting with you in-game or on the forum, so I'm not sure where this passive-aggressive/inflammatory comment is coming from. However, I'll address the speaking points that @Sonic bp.tf mentioned.

False Report/Toxicity Report - Admittedly, some of the things I said in text chat regarding PROBRAYDENGAMER weren't professional and wouldn't look spectacular coming from a staff member. Going forward, regardless of whether or not this application this approved, I'll refrain from making similar comments in the future.

However. PROBRAYDENGAMER has a lengthy history of mutes for both spam and racism, see below. I don't recall absolutely every detail about what transpired up until I was reported, but what I do remember is that PROBRAYDENGAMER was repeatedly screeching/screaming into his microphone, as he's done numerous times on the server previously (and since!) This is why I started a !votemenu mute; not because he's a minor, but because of his piercing screeching in voice chat. I don't have an issue with minors playing and interacting with the community; however, if they're going to be a nuisance to other players in a game they really shouldn't be playing to begin with, that's where I start to see a problem.

Could I have handled this in a more professional manner? Absolutely.

If a similar situation were to present itself in the future, as an admin/moderator or otherwise, I would approach the user and ask them to refrain from screaming/spam in voice chat. If the behavior continued without improvement, I'd take a .dem recording of the behavior, report it, and move on.

People make mistakes, I know I've made my fair share of mine. The report and drama regarding this situation was primarily my doing, and I take responsibility for that.

Thank you.

+1, one of the most levelheaded and thoughtful people I have met on Bottiger's Idle. I agree that we need more admin supervision on the server with the amount of micspam I have encountered recently. Dude's got my vote.

That is because i play DR, so clearly you never heard about me. But eh, Sonic got soild proof a bit but turns out that kid was fucked up

There was a video attached to the report and it was still marked resolved so I would have to assume the kid did not say anything worth muting for. I don't remember the specifics. This isn't that big of a deal that it would get this app declined

I couldn't respond to this directly at the time because I was sleepy. It's not based on the application, but rather serves as a talking point for deeper understanding for all involved. The responses here are providing just that.

Those other mutes don't matter. 2022 is around the time we removed a section from the rules: "you are allowed to say nigga, unless it's in a negative or hostile manner". And the word was added to the automatic filter. Which lead to a lot of accidental mutes over the following months and the first mute is 8 years ago

It's understandable where you are coming from with this, and I appreciate it. I was not present on the server during this time.
Stating that it doesn't matter is subjective. It's best to ask the questions NOW for those who will discover the intel in the future and choose not to ignore it.

I was seeking a response provided with grace, and your explanation is of great deliverance.
Taking ownership was also another principle being sought. You didn't try to excuse it off, and that would have set off a red flag lol.
My vote shall stay as Yea. 🙂

I do have another question, but it does not relate to what was asked previously. A fun, THINK BIG question.
It's a random question to ponder because I would like Skial's leadership to think about this as well, for the sake of growing the community.

The population count for Skial has declined. You can observe and detect that returning to normalcy from a pandemic caused it.
The player base for TF2 has also lowered over time.
Any uptick that comes to Skial is an update to TF2, but it does not last evidently.

What would you think would be a strategy to promote Skial to invite new players if (HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING) you were in Leadership?

Bro that’s a hell of a hardball. That would be harder than a Jerma question lol

Opening perspectives on what projects Muffin would do.
I have seen Feral attempt to do events for DR in discord time after time so it makes me wonder. Doesn't have to be DR related whatsoever

+1 As (embarrassingly enough) being one of the oldest Bottiger’s Idle players back before skial was even a thing, I remember when moof joined the server around 2011 or 2012. Since the beginning, moof has shown diligence to and justice towards those receiving unnecessary harmful comments from toxic and mean players. Moof has shown consistency with handling players displaying unsavoury comments and reportable offences. I usually resort to him if someone should warrant a report (as I’m too lazy to do so). He’s professional, but also fun to be around. Without a doubt, Moof would make an excellent candidate.

Great question - and a challenging open-ended one, at that.

I'm actually going to reference my time spent many years ago playing No Heroes Dustbowl in my late teens. For me, I absolutely loved the genuinely friendly community feeling that cultured lasting relationships, some of which I still have to this day. No Heroes isn't around anymore, but the genuinely heartwarming and welcoming environment I observed there has stuck with me ever since. New, veteran, young and old players would pile into the server every night and have a blast, and I want to help be a driving force of positivity and inclusivity that encourages that same community feeling at Skial.

To be clear - I don't want to mold the Skial community to be like No Heroes; I want help foster a supportive, friendly and engaging environment similar to what I experienced in that community that encourages players to have fun and return to Skial.

Giveaways
One of the ideas I had that might encourage new players to join and return is to offer something like a monthly giveaway/raffle. I don't know if Skial does anything like that for the community, but I can't imagine hearing the community complain about the possibility of free stuff. Shoot, I'd be willing to pitch in towards a revolving/permanent monthly raffle pool. Nothing crazy expensive, mind you - something like a few keys, or something worth a few keys. Secret Saxton gift giveaways might be another way to give back to the community, and would hopefully encourage higher player counts.

Events
As a few others have already noted, planning and hosting events might be a solid idea for generating increased interest in the community. For example, an admin (that I'm unfortunately not remembering the name of right now, my apologies!) occasionally gets on the server and does fun things for the players. They typically spawn larger-than-usual Monoculus bosses with increased HP for a fun, teamwork-focused boss battle in a server normally ruled by chaos. That, and rolling positive !RTD effects for all users is quite fun.

Even something as simple as direct admin interaction with the playerbase in a positive/fun light can make a big difference in player attitudes and enjoyment. Being a staff member carries a lot of administrative/disciplinary responsibilities, but it might be refreshing as a regular player to see more frequent positive/fun interaction with staff. That's where I come in - to be able to fulfil both sides of that coin. Administrator, and all of the responsibilities that come with that role, as well as a friendly and approachable player that wants to foster fun and player engagement.

Just for fun, here are a few screenshots from years' past...

One of my earlier Bottiger's Idle Trade screenshots, dated July 2013. Here I am, with a Huntsman arrow in my skull. I recall looking forward to coming home from school so that I could play on the idle server. And yes, even back then I wore a pink Max's Severed Head! 😂

Fun times on NH Dustbowl, this one is dated September 2012. How on earth I managed to get a hat to appear thrice I'll never know.

Sometimes I forget just how old this game really is...

That's all for now, thank you.

EDIT: The admin I mentioned is @ArayhMD ! Big thanks to @_Jack_ for helping me remember their name!

i don't think we're gonna mention the chat logs of what you been saying before applying for admin

YEA
A integral attribute of a admin, and one that all should have, is neutrality and ensuring that conflicts of interest do not factor into decision-making. From what I have seen from your interactions as a non-admin, you follow this despite not even being obligated to. Therefore, you have my support.

I've read through all this, Moof's been on bottiger idle/skial as a whole for a very long time. I don't frequent the servers anymore, but the times I check the report page anything bottiger idle related I see them reporting, which I am very appreciated for them doing so. That server gets super rowdy.

I understand the issue of past reporting mistakes it looks bad on paper and although I have my own personal opinion of it not needing to be hailed as the -1 generator of doom and despair, thats not here nor there. You didn't duck the "constructive criticism" of sonic's and still adressed your stance on the matter, your shortcomings and what you can do to improve in the future as you done with other replies here. I like that. (I also like your response to winnie's question that was a fun read). All and all what has been stated before me has been said so I'll wrap it up with this.

In my years of being in bottiger's idle, you were one of the rare diamonds in the pool of degeneracy and 2127 nukage.

+1
