Do you think it will ever happen? I personally think the way TF2 is designed it doesn't really need a sequel but I'd still pick up TF3 if its ever made.

Nope, TF2 is the testing ground for most Valve games, and it will continue to be. There wont be a TF3 in my opinion..

There will be TF3 at some point, but there is no point killing TF2 just yet.

We already play TF2.9, the amount of updates and content that has been added.

Valve already said they aren't making source 2 so no point in a new team forttress if it looks exactly the same and with same physics. No one will play it. They already have all their items in tf2. And valve making good money. I would like to see half life 3 though.

Graphics cant really improve tf has that cartoonish feel so making it realistic would take away what makes tf2 special

Yeah you can still improve the graphics on the terrain and items while maintaining the cartoon feel to it. It's one of those things you don't really notice unless you have something better to compare it to though.

Tfc never had that cartoony feel and that was a very popular game at the time and Tf2 is very close to the same Skills and abilities of tfc.

Hopefully not any time soon, TF2 is one of valves biggest games ever, probably the most updated too

there will come a time when tf2 becomes too clogged from updates, then tf3 (or whatever) will be released

like when too many expired items are still in the item schema? and the Pile of Ash crafting recipe still existing? and when special keys "expire", Valve just replaces the schema entry with regular keys instead of doing a batch-replace in the item servers? what's up with all that?

The only real reason to make a TF3 is if Valve decided to rebuild Source Engine from the ground up, and if there was a TF3, if it didn't transfer all past TF2 data, people would be so pissed.

Pretty sure it would happen if valve made a new source engine. Pretty sure hl3 would be the showcase/debut title though.
