Greetings all,

I honestly don't know how to start this post but here I go.......
This might go nowhere (most likely) but I don't care.

I just want to point out that the team swap mechanic in Skial servers are broken and need a Nerf (and I'm not the only one thinking this , even though there probably hasn't been a post like this ever). I have been playing on 24/7 Skial dustbowl only and I have noticed a lot of team stacking and would like to address an issue. Yes, TEAM STACKING "oh but if your just that try hard don't play Skial servers", what I say to this is fuck you, you know what your doing and its unfair and really boring.

I recommend to change/nerf the "!swap" command to only being able to use it once every hour. "Bro you fucking stupid ass I paid for premium access". Yes you did and I dont blame you for doing what you do BUT stacking red team is a problem.

You know what as I write this post the more I think nothing will happen which is fine. I mean really, I can't be the only one thinking the same, the only way this is going anywhere is if i get support in the comments section. All I ask is a smaaaaal nerf.

TY,
Jake :)

what are your thoughts on this? (lets make a convo)

I have a love-hate relationship with !swap, especially on DB as we've both seen those repeat offenders who do this daily.

If I'm stuck on red/blue team 3+ matches in a row due to scrambling at the end of each round, !swap. (What's the point of scrambling on the server is most of the regulars who donate during prime time will just !swap anyway?)
If I want to keep the pattern of bouncing back between red to blue after each round without any inconsistencies, !swap.
Buddy of mine joins the server and we're in discord? maybe I'll swap if there's not already some heavy hitters on the other team.
Enemy team is steamrolling us, I'm playing till the end of the round regardless even if I'm dying over and over to whatever is being thrown at us.

We have folks in DB who join during 3rd stage only and move straight to red. Play said round of 3rd stage and leave immediately afterwords until it comes back around.
I've also seen it to where it never moves past 1st stage during DB, one of the better players will swap to blue, play 1st and 2nd stage winning said stages, and then !swap back to red on 3rd stage. This is somewhat better (not by much) than the previous scenario because at least they're playing BOTH sides in a weird way.
Medics may follow whom they've designated as their pocket via !swap as teams get scrambled.

The poetic justice I see is when people !swap to red and immediately get steamrolled by blue making sure they do not get a chance to establish themselves at all during any of the stages.

Problem(s) I see with this:

This argument of !swap alongside kritz spam on 3rd stage, are the most complained about things on the Skial DB server to which people have recommended nerfs or adjustments to some degree because of said experience on this server. But what about all the other servers that aren't Dustbowl with the same options?

Would this be a Dustbowl server only nerf to !swap or would this become a change that is enforced on all other servers?
We can get all of the DB people to vote in here all we want for this change, I just don't think they'd make any adjustments for one server in particular amongst vanilla tf2 servers list.
Despite the bad rep !swap has in Skial's Dustbowl - its getting folks to donate which is going to be the argument administration may hold onto as either way, the servers are full and people are paying money to play regardless.

Rarely I'll see folks who will hover in spectate waiting for a slot on their preferred team still donator or not. I feel they may use this more to keep a spot occupied while they wait for their desired team if !swap was nerfed in some capacity.

Also - how would a cooldown of !swap be enforced? The problem of folks joining on one stage to specifically play on team would still be an issue because going through all three stages takes about 30-60 minutes. (assuming each round is about 15-20mins.) What if someone leaves and joins back, is the command still on cooldown or is it refreshed with their new session established on the server?

I'm voting +1 either way, It would be funny to see the day !swap gets nerfed with a cooldown and all of those whom use it within Dustbowl have to adapt. But I'm curious if any of the bigger payload server folks feel the same since in my opinion their server usually has more random people joining to play versus regulars like DB has. I rarely see !swap in 24 player lobby servers and maybe a donator in the casual servers once in a blue moon.

The Skial Payload US server has been riddled with !swap stackers (Often stacking the blue team to rule the favors to their team, and some people will outright refuse to play on a team most of the time when they can just swap) and it impacts the balance of gameplay a lot. It's not rare to see rounds go 18-10 when the round just starts up because of people mass-leaving and using the swap command to go to the enemy team. Me and other people would definitely like to see some sort of change to the swap system to at least somewhat counteract the problem.

Get those other people in this forum homie. We gotta get the votes.

As a resident Dustbowl US player there's an undeniable effect that !swap has on games.

A one hour cooldown would be disruptive to those who abuse the command but would not consistently prevent teamstacking. To paraphrase Gingy, it only takes a few good players to swap red and achieve a stack, others will see the writing on the wall and they'll use their swap too. A cooldown prevents this from happening back to back, but the stacks will still appear regularly enough.

I'm not a dev so I have no idea what solutions would be viable or effective. Adding an option in the votemenu to enable or disable !swap? Auto disabling !swap on servers with maxed out players? Preventing !swap for some time for those who have recently connected? All of these, including the cooldown idea, would curb teamstacking by some amount but not completely, while adding some annoyance to those players who can't be bothered to care about a balanced game and just want to consistently play with their friends.

It's worth a try, games are more fun without endless stacks.
